1 Mind-Blowing Reason NOT to Blog...and IWSG

Have you ever had a really, really good excuse NOT to be social online?

Source
As a little girl, I was the kid slipping out the front door at 3 years old, and when my mom tried to stop me, I put my hands on my hips and said emphatically, "But Mom, I HAVE to play with my friends!"

Needless to say, that drive has rarely gone away...except my friends are online now and it's easy to play without doing my hair, getting dressed, or sneaking out the door. I share that to let you know how TRULY painful this separation is going to be, but I'm holding myself to it. Instead of

and I've only got a couple weeks (maybe days) to get our lives in order for this baby. It's been 8 years since I've had a baby, and I've been studying/shopping like crazy to get myself back in the mentality. It's time to go a babying!

My big insecurity, will you all be here when I get back?

Along those same lines, let's award our baby shower giveaway!

Last week Elizabeth Seckman shared her brand new release, DEFYING REASON, along with two baby truths and one lie. Those who guessed the lie were entered into a random drawing for the chance to win a SIGNED copy of DEFYING REASON and a SWAG PACK including bookmarks, pens, and a necklace

The game:

1. When Boy #4 was born, Elizabeth had a condition known as precipitous labor (or speedy labor). From start to finish, his labor lasted three hours. It was so short, they didn’t even have time to get to the hospital, so he was born on the living room floor.

2. When Boy #3 was born, he was as big as a modest Thanksgiving turkey. That made Elizabeth a freak in the hospital- even the kitchen staff stopped by to meet the woman who had the eleven pounder naturally.

3. When Boy #2 was born, his name was going to be Colby (like the cheese!), but Elizabeth's mother-in-law loved that named and disliked the name Cole. And she brought Elizabeth's husband a Big Mac (which he didn’t even offer to share!) to the hospital and not her, so she named the baby Cole.

And the lie is:

#1. This actually happened to Elizabeth's sister, not her.

Way to guess everyone who got it right! And the winner is:

...DRUM ROLL...

Congrats, Krystal!

So that's it. I might pop in over the next couple months, and there will definitely be an announcement when I'm sane enough to post one. I'm wishing you a happy A to Z Challenge, an amazing Easter, and cheese. (Of course.)

Will you be A to Z-ing? When's the last time you took a hiatus from social media?

  1. You deserve a break. And you SHOULD enjoy that baby. They don't stay little very long. We'll be here when you get back. ;)

  2. Crystal, I think having a baby is a very good excuse for taking a blogging break! Rest up, get your sleep while you can, and let us know the good news when baby arrives!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Of course we'll be here when you come back! Baby time is so much more important than social media. Enjoy it! (Again)

  4. Crystal... I will be here when you get back. I understand how busy you are going to be. Babies need a lot of attention, I wouldn't have had a moment to be on-line when I had Valentina... she took all my energy and that was okay, I loved giving her all my attention.

I hope you can somehow let us know when the baby is born... try to get a little rest, as you know babies keep us busy with little sleep.

I'll miss you, email me you like at tweety_pie_36@hotmail.com ... I'll be praying for you and your family. I hope the birth is quick and easy ♡♡♡

  5. Enjoy the coming new addition. Taking a break is good. Your friends will still be here (most), but you may have to search to find some when you return.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Well a baby is an acceptable reason to cut back on blogging. You know how fast that time goes with kids, and babies change so quickly, so enjoy that time.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Good luck with everything! Enjoy it all! :)

    ReplyDelete
  8. wow, a couple of weeks, I'm so excited for you guys !!!

    ReplyDelete
  9. My two are not exactly babies anymore (they're 4) but they take my time away from blogging and writing and working and breathing . . . well, you get the point, so yes, I absolutely get the baby blog break thing. Do it. You'll need it. And we'll be here ;)

  10. 8 years between babies is a long time but I'm sure you and the baby will do fine! And I'll bet there's a lot of excitement in your home right now. Of course we will all be here when you get back!

    ReplyDelete
  11. We'll still be here! You can slip in and visit us when you can, but I imagine you'll be very busy for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Don't worry, we will all be here waiting for you. Wishing you the best with sorting out the last minute details and wishing you well with the birth.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Don't worry, we'll be here. Take your break and enjoy your new baby. That's more important than blogging. Very excited for you.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Oh, we'll be here all right. You're not going to get rid of us that easily. Besides, all you'll have to do is post baby pictures and we'll all come running back anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yay me! ^_^

I'll still be here! We all need a break sometimes and more of us need the courage to do it. I haven't taken a break longer than a week since I started.

Take care of yourself! Here's some extra virtual cheese for the new baby! ^_^

    ReplyDelete
  16. So excited for you! It will all come back to you. Almost 9 years in between my 2nd and 3rd one. I don't miss the sleep deprivation, but the sweetness of an infant is a great reward! We will be right here, waiting for those pics!!

  17. Breaks are essential. It's so easy to get overwhelmed in this day in age when information and social platforms are so readily available...and so maddeningly addictive.

Take care of yourself and our little wedge of fermenting cheese. >_<

    ReplyDelete
  18. I know I'll be here and I've no doubt everyone else will too. Can't imagine a better reason for a break than this. Take care and enjoy your little one. :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. So happy for you and your family. Might lose a little weight while your gone, since no one will be feeding me cheese everyday. Gonna miss you - but for the BESTEST of reasons. Huge hugs and silly, girly squeals, and OMG - BABY!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. We'll miss you! But we'll be here (well, I'll be here) when you get back. I'm into this blog thing for the long haul. Twitter is just too short form for me :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'll be here when you get back. Take the time you need for your first priority.

    ReplyDelete
  22. How wonderful, Crystal. A new baby deserves your time and brings such a joy into the home. From the following I've seen here, I have no doubt bloggers will welcome you back. Enjoy this precious time. They grow up far too fast!

    ReplyDelete
  23. You're going to be just fine. Like riding a bike, and we'll all be here when you get back.
    ;)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Take a break and enjoy your baby! We'll all be here when you return. :D

    ReplyDelete
  25. You will be so busy with that baby you won't miss us at all, at least till you get your feet under you. But don't worry, we will be here when you get back! Rest, drink a lot of water, and love your baby and family. Congratulations!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Wow eight years between. But you never forgot (mine were 9 years apart) how to do it, so you'll do great. Enjoy your baby break. Look forward to seeing that new project come into the world.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well, silly, of course we will. But if you have a free second, come back long enough to post a photo our two when your little one arrives.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oh my goodness - congratulations! I've been away far too long! A baby is exciting - and the best reason to take a break!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Congrats and ALL THE BEST, Crystal... TAKE CARE!!! WE'LL ALL miss you!!!!!!

    I just don't know!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Of course we'll still be here - that's what RSS readers are for :) Good luck with all the babying!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Wow! Getting close. This last little bit of waiting is THE worst. Here's wishing you all the best, and of course we'll still be here.

    ReplyDelete
  33. It'll be fine. We'll all still be here when you get back.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Haha! That last video did me in! Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Good luck with everything! That's so exciting that the baby is almost here! Of course you want and need to take a break from social media right now, and I for one will be here when you get back.
I don't blog as often as I used to because I often get so preoccupied with work and school that I don't have time for blog posts. I still like to Tweet fairly frequently, but it's easier to come up with a couple lines a day than an entire blog post.

    ReplyDelete
  36. That's a very good reason to be away for a while. Enjoy every minute of your new arrival when the time comes. We'll be here when you get back.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Out of all the reasons to stop blogging a while (sickness, holidays, things being busy) and focus on other things, taking care of a new baby is pretty important. Best of luck with everything.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think it's great to take some time away for awhile. Sometimes I need it just to have "quiet" and be able to think. But having a baby is the very best reason. Congrats! I'm so happy for you and your family! Can't wait for that announcement, whenever you're sane enough to post it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'd say that's a pretty good excuse. Good luck with everything and enjoy the blogging break. We'll still be here :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Of course we'll be here when you get back! And I think it's a great thing that you're taking some time away to focus on your new baby. Enjoy every minute—you know how fast they grow!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I follow your blog, so I'll be notified when you'r back. In essence, yup, I'll be here when you return. =)

    ReplyDelete
  42. A big and exciting, ahead-of-time congratulations!!
Of course we'll be here when you get back!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Crystal, are you insane? You go and have that bambino and stop worrying. I know it's easy to be forgotten if you're not blogging regularly, but we all know you have more important fish to fry, or babies to tend to! Wishing you a swift, but not too swift birth and joyous days as your family welcomes this little one! <3

    ReplyDelete
  44. OF COURSE we'll still be here when you get back!!! Please post something when you can, introducing your little one, but other than that, enjoy your maternity blogging leave :) Ill be thinking of you!

  45. We'll all still be here! Wishing you lots of joy w/your newest(when he/she arrives!). =)

  48. Congratulations, Crystal! And of course we'll still be here when you get back. I hope you don't forget us.

My last break was last fall, when I went to China for a month. They don't call it the Great Firewall of China for nothing.

  50. All the best with the new baby Crystal, I seem to recall 4 months being the point where I was able to start bringing my head back up out of baby brain, although I guess that's different for everyone.
See you whenever that is, enjoy your baby (and now you can eat cheese again too!)

  53. I'm waiting to hear your good news! And I'll still be around when you get back. I'll miss you while you're gone. But there's no more wonderful reason than a child.

    ReplyDelete
  54. We will miss you, Crystal! Please check in and tell us about the baby once he/she arrives. We will be dying to hear all about the little one=)
I took a break in January but didn't feel like it was enough. Breaks are nice when we have other things going on in our lives. Enjoy your bonding time. Happy Easter, baby talking and cheesing!
I had some amazing brie last weekend with some almonds and olives.. yum=)

  55. Soon-to-be incoming kid... yikes. >_< I don't know how you deal with it. But I hope everything goes well.

As for not blogging or stepping away from social media, I got a bit of that when I was moving here; being the only driver for a 1400-mile trip isn't exactly conducive to constant Twitter checks. ^_^ But I really missed it, so I don't know how much I'd truly be able to step away for a longer period of time. Blogging is different, as that's only once a week.

  56. You will be missed and I shall still be here when you get back. Happy babying and wishing you the best of everything! xx

  57. I'll be doing A to Z on both of my blogs, and hoping my secondary blog finally picks up more readers this time around. Good luck with your near future baby!
