Are you ready to win a book? It's time for Writerly Wednesday!
A quick thank you... I got BLITZED yesterday, and I'm left feeling oh so loved. Thank you everyone. Don't know what the Blitz is? DL Hammons explains it HERE.
AND my first Insecure Writers Support Group post. I've been hanging out with the IWSGers since the conception of the group, but haven't jumped in because of what we'll call an insecurity. Since living in NYC (where you fight uphill to accomplish even the simplest tasks) I never take on a project unless I'm 100% certain I can complete it. It's the same reason I've never hosted a bloghop, or why I've had a couple completed books sitting in my digital storehouse for over ten years.
BUT, with the publication of MOONLESS next week, it's time to take the proverbial plunge. All of them. So IWSGers, here I am! Here's hoping I don't fall off the map, but if I do, I know you've got my back, just as I've got yours.
Okay, who's ready for the winner of last week's game? Sherry Auger shared two truths and one lie about herself and those who guessed the lie correctly were entered into a random drawing for 7 chances to win, one paper signed copy, one eBook, and 5 books marks of her amazing new release, Willow Brook.
The options were:
1. Every book Sherry reads, she reads on her kindle.
2. She wrote Willow Brook in 30 days and took 3 years to edit it.
3. She researched a topic for a year before starting her WIP adult novel.
And the lie is:
#1. Most of you nailed it! Sherry still likes the feel of paper.
You can find her pretty much anywhere eating a nice ripe Camembert with warm caramel and pecans on top--along with a glass of ice wine.
She gave me two truths and one lie to test your "lie detector" skills. Can you figure out the lie? Those who do will go into my magic hat for a chance to win one eBook of The Bashan Agenda. Eek! How cool is that? You have until Tuesday, November 12th at 1 p.m. to guess--and be sure to come back for the answer on November 13th.
1. Today is Melanie's birthday.
2. She's developed a field training game people can play to live out her books.
3. She is a vegetarian.
Okay human lie detectors, which is the lie?

I wanted to participate in the blog blitz yesterday, and bummed that I didn't because your blog rocks! This giveaway is super-hype!
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks Petre! You just made my day. Or made it better. =)
DeleteOh, and Melanie can't be a vegetarian, or at least not a vegan, because cheese! Okay, she could still be a vegetarian, but I think that's the lie.
ReplyDeleteIt took me a long time to start participating in IWSG, but I'm so glad I did. It's a great group :)
ReplyDeleteFor sure. It's more than a group. It's a community. =)
DeleteThis is my first IWSG post, too! I have no idea why it took me so long to actually join, but I'm glad I'm here now. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty awesomesauce, eh?
DeleteCongrats to last week's winners. I love Melanie's cover! No idea on this one which is the lie. Strictly a guess: #2
ReplyDeleteLOL! How cool would that be if you were right? :)
DeleteI love the cover!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to guess that number three is a lie.
I'm glad you joined the group! :)
ReplyDeleteAbout time, right?
DeleteGlad you joined us!
ReplyDelete(Hint: I make draft reminder posts for the first Wed. of every month, that way I don't forget about IWSG.)
Congrats to the winners! :D
For the next quiz, I'm going to choose #3, vegetarian, and hope (since she posted a recipe for chicken salad on her blog :P) that Melanie eats meat.
Or maybe she's just trying to keep her family healthy, eh? ;)
DeleteYay and welcome to IWSG! It's such a wonderful group.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing #3 is the lie.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the IWSG!
The lie... she's a vegetarian. And as far a Moonless, hey, I'm hosting you soon, and it'll be fun!
ReplyDeleteYou're not kidding. It's going to be a rock-tastic, amazing sauce, cheese-rapturing experience. ;) (What? Who's excited? Not me.) *shifty eyes*
DeleteAwesome first IWSG post. And congrats on your release. Looking forward to spreading the word.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm guessing that the lie is that she's a vegetarian.
Thanks, Jay. =) And may the cheese be abundant, eh?
DeleteWelcome to the IWSG!!! It's a great place to be!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with your book release!
Heather
Yay! Thank you, Heather. =)
DeleteYay for IWSG! I always love reading the posts, but have yet to get on board with it. Someday, when I'm not feeling so insecure :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm going to guess #1. No idea, but hey, it's worth a shot :)
LOL! You sound like me, for the last, what, three years? I'm still not sure I should have committed, but I'm already committed to the people, so why not the meme?
DeleteHmm. Well, I'm gonna go with #3 and then say Happy Birthday!! LOL.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to IWSG Crystal! I did the same thing (watched from the sidelines) and finally jumped in a few months back. It's been great! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd congrats on Moonless! Are you doing any release blog-tour-stuff (apologies if I've missed sign-ups, etc.)? If so, send me what you've got and I'll be sure to share it on my blog. :D
Yay, Thank you a ton, E.J. You are rock-awesome!
DeleteWelcome to IWSG!! It is a terrific bunch of people and I enjoy their company and support very much.
ReplyDeleteThey are pretty darn awesome.

ReplyDeleteYou did win a prize! How crazy is that? ;)
DeleteThank you Crystal for hosting me-it's so much fun to see people guessing at the lie! (Melissa you're memory scares me. LOL!)
ReplyDeleteSo glad to have you, Melanie. =)
DeleteWelcome to the group, Crystal! And don't worry. I definitely have your back. :D
ReplyDeleteI'll take a crack at my first lie detector test and say the lie is that she's a vegetarian. (But I am a vegetarian. lol)
Yay! Thank you Chrys.
DeleteI don't like starting something unless I think I can follow through, either. Good luck keeping up with IWSG!
ReplyDeleteOy! Thanks, Heather.
DeleteWelcome to IWSG!
ReplyDeleteYes, good luck and keep going~
Nice to meet you!
Congrats to the winners~
Yay! Thanks, Ella.
DeleteShe's a vegetarian? I have to admit, it's fun blitzing people. Nice to see you here at IWSG.
ReplyDeleteYeats another way to show our support, eh?
DeleteI've been considering joining too. But I'm hardly writing right now so not sure what I could contribute. I probably need to join one of these days.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to commit when you have an overlapping meme too, right?
DeleteWelcome to IWSG! It's a great supportive group for writers. :)
ReplyDeleteI'll second that.
Delete1.It feels like I've been waiting for Moonless to be released FOREVER!
ReplyDelete2.Wow, just read the preview to The Newstead Project on Amazon, it sounds great!
3.My lie detector is broken, I have no idea what the lie is. :(
Lol. 1. Michelle, you and me both. 2. I totally agree. 3. Do you need me to loan you my scientists to fix that?
DeleteIt can be difficult to not feel like you fell in a hole or something... which reminds me of a story...
ReplyDeleteWait, who is falling in holes now? Oh, I hope they're not plot holes.
DeleteHey, Crystal,
ReplyDeleteGlad you joined the fun.
I'll be the lie is about the birthday.

DeleteKuddos to you for jumping in, Crystal! I'm going to contemplate a while longer! I'm going with #3.
ReplyDeleteLol. Take your time. I only took how many years?
DeleteHmmm... I'm going to go with #1 as the lie.
ReplyDeleteI'm late for the blitz...got behind on email...sigh. Welcome to the IWSG! I co-hosted this month, which was a blast. So belated happy blitz day, and I think she's not a vegetarian...but I'm notoriously bad on those sorts of things.
ReplyDeleteTina @ Life is Good
Late? Who's keeping track? For all we know you got trapped in a time bubble. :)
