How to Read a Book

In case you swipe physical pages, this is for you!

So friendlies which is it for you? The tech world for reading, or killing trees? (Kidding. Kidding. Yes, I really am kidding.)

  1. For some reason it's not loading for me. I will check it out when I get home later on my desktop :)

    1. Yeah. I wouldn't have laughed as hard, except I've actually done this--the page swiping.

  3. Oh, too funny... I look at my bookshelf crammed full of books all the time, as I'm reading on my tiny iPhone. LOL, Even my Nook has fallen by the wayside, because the iPhone is just so much more convenient to read on. No wonder I can hardly see anything anymore.

    1. I KNOW! You know what I realized this morning? I will binge read if it's on my Kindle, but if it's paper, I'll finish one book, put it down, and go be a human for a while.

  4. LOL, that's pretty much how it's going.

    1. It's not good. It's not bad. It's just different, right?

  5. Lol! I like both, I do hope physical books don't end up an endangered species though. Plant more trees. :)

    1. Yes, plant more, or head to upstate NY where they're chopping them down like crazy to build anything. Let's be wise, eh? ;)

    1. I used to be that way. Digital is slowly winning the war though. (*gasp* --Don't tell my lovely book collection.)

  7. Have you seen the video with the baby (or toddler--I forget which) trying to open a magazine, but doesn't know how due to only having known an iPad?

I prefer digital books. They're lighter. I can hold them easier. And they don't close on me accidentally.

    1. LOL! Liz, no I haven't seen that one, but now I'm going to have to hunt it down. Goodness, give us another couple years and this video will be a true educational one, eh?

  8. I prefer digital books for new books. For old titles, like my favorite books from decades ago, I like print books.

    1. There's something to it, isn't there? Feeling the age in pages?

    1. It's been so long since I've been to a second-hand book store. Those things still exist? (I mean, other than ebay?)

  10. I learned to enjoy both, believe it or not. I like reading Amazon freebies and library books on Gizmo (my Kindle), but when I buy a book like WOOL, I want to read the hard copy.

    1. I believe it! Only 6 months ago I was a 70/30 reader, in favor of paper, but since my library system adopted Overdrive? Well, I'm now the reverse.

  11. I love to read so both type works for me. Receiving a signed print copy has it's own excitement though!

    1. Oh, I know! I'm always give a little shriek of excitement when I win a giveaway book--especially if it's a signed copy.

  12. I swore off physical books once Kindles came along. Now, if I have to read an actual book, I find it annoying.

I actually popped over here because I saw your comment on Liz's blog about socialism, and wanted to share this old post of mine with you:

I always welcome other viewpoints, and your comment made me remember that post.

    1. Physical books? Annoying? (SHHH! Keep your voice down. You'll hurt their feelings.)

  13. I love both types of books equally. It's never been a case of either/or for me!

    1. Yeah, I'm starting to like them for different functionality.

  14. That's a great video. I read both types of books, but more print copies. There's something about holding that book in your hand and staring at the great cover and thinking about it that can't be done with an e-reader.
