Procrastination

Things I have been procrastinating:

Laundry
Responding to email
Blogging
Reading Pride and Prejudice

Overcoming my tom boy roots, I finally broke down and did the last one. How did I make it past 30 and NOT read the #1 book on 90% of women's lists?

*sigh*

So, it's time to amend some of the other things I've been putting off, namely thanking and passing on the love from these AWESOME awards.

First, from my amazing friend Kerri Cuevas who manages a farm, writes, and hosts fantabulous Choose Your Own Adventure bloghops....

Yay! Thank you Kerri, I love you!

So to pass on the love the recipient must:
1. Thank the person who nominated you
2. Write a post about the answers to the questions
3. AND nominate other bloggers and let them know

Questions:

1. Favorite color: PEARL. I know, I know, it's kind of a cheat because pearl encompasses the entire rainbow, but the truth is as a little girl my favorite color was a mix of iridescent blue, pink and purple which can only adequately be captured in pearl.

2. Favorite Animal: Eagle. Get some perspective, eh?

3. Favorite Number: 49, I mean it's perfection squared.

4. Favorite Non-Alcoholic Drink: Water...er Apple Cider?

5. Facebook or Twitter: Yes. (*ahem* I'm on Facebook most, but like Twitter more.) And why isn't Goodreads an option, eh?

6. My Passions: My family, education, music, orchestral composition, singing, theater, WRITING, reading, acting, drawing, the outdoors and star gazing.

7. Getting or Giving Presents: Giving.

8. Favorite Pattern: Random--like nature

9. Favorite Flower: ... Did I mention I was kind of a tom boy?

And now for the amazing people I'm nominating....

And if that wasn't enough, I've been putting this one off too. Nutschell is amazing and supportive and an incredible blogger over at The Writing Nut. Every time I interact with her I end up with a smile on my face. Thank you Nutchell for the: ---------------------------->

And now the rulz:

1. Thank the person who gave you the award
2. Name 7 little known facts about yourself
3. Nominate other bloggers

Seven little know facts... I guess my love of cheese is out the window...

1. My name is literally Chicken. Or was. C (first initial) + (maiden name) Hicken= C.Hicken.

2. I home school my 3 kids. Like, every day. Like, all day. Yup.

3. Speaking of kids, my son is named Random. Yes, it's partially after his Dad's sense of humor, but it's also partially after my special needs brother Randy who passed away a year before our son was born.

4. I wrote a musical. (Libretto and orchestral music.) No, I'm not talking roadshow or stage play. I'm talking 2.5 hrs of PURE MUSIC AWESOMENESS. And one day (when we crack down on our producer) it's going to go somewhere. =)

5. I used to believe I was one of Santa's elves. Even had a shirt with a rainbow heart on it I could press and open the gateway to the north pole--you know, like a Star Trek call button. (I know, I'm a geek.)

       6. I grew up in Utah and have STILL never been skiing. That's like a crime, right?

7. I'm a medieval times fanatic. Ask me lore. Ask me folk/fairy tales. Ask me fashion. Ask me torture devices. I mean...er...

And my AWESOME nominees:
  1. Theresa Milstein
  2. Nicole Zoltak
  3. J.C Martin
  4. Erica and Christy
  5. Susan Fields
LASTLY (--as if this blog post hasn't gone on for long enough--) a quick thank you to the blogger known as Far Away Eyes for the Versatile Blogger award!

So friends, now that I've shared far TOO MUCH about myself, tell me something unique and awesome about you!

  1. Wow thanks so much for the award! I'm honored that you thought of me when you picked the people to pass it to.

I unfortunately don't think I have the time to pass on the award, so I thought I'd leave the answers to the questions here:

    1) Following your example: Peacock feather. :-D

    2)The wolf.

    3) Urm... my ID number (the SA version of the US social security number). Not going to tell you what it is, but it's so full of repetition and rhythm that I love reciting it. ;-P

    4) Milk. Hands down.

    5) Twitter. I find Facebook annoying.

    6) My passions vary from time to time, but: Singing, writing, performing, drawing...

    7) I love giving present, especially because I'm usually much better at giving people presents than they are at giving them to me. Also, because my birthday is right after Christmas, people forget and then only give me one and say it's for both when they remember so... receiving presents have always been... discontenting for me.

    8) A damask-like pattern if it's chunky. Like the one on my blog. And then I love Art Nouveau designs.

    9) Definitely a white orchid.

  3. Awesome, Misha! LOL--I don't want to know your SS# either. Your b-day and my hubby's must be close because he has the same issue...or did until he married me. =)

  5. Pearl? That's a pretty good color. ;) And I love the name Random! I'm sure I've said that before. :)

  6. I remember a blog's first-page contest and one of the pages had a boy named Random in it and the agent suggested changing the name, haha. Everyone has their preferences, right?

And thanks for passing it on. As WI residents, we appreciate anyone who loves cheese! :)

  7. Hey Crystal! Thanks for nominating me :) This is fun. I'll dedicate the blog tomorrow for answering.
Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite books of all times. I read it whenever I'm sick or sad. Like a good friend or a favorite sweater. LOL. I hope that when you do decide to read it, you'll love it too.
And I love your seven little known facts :)

  9. Awww, thanks for nominating me!

I love that stargazer picture. Cool list to describe yourself. Using pearl for your favorite hue isn't cheating. Much. ; )

  10. Madeline! You changed your picture. It's nice.

Erica & Christy--Silly agents. What do they know, eh?

    Sigal--Looking forward to it!

    Nutschell--you deserve it.

Theresa--we're writers, right? We're supposed to bend the rules. =)

  17. Wow, well done for participating so fully with the awards. Great answers and I love that your name is CHicken!! Little known fact about me - I hate celery. Ugh!

  18. So much fun to read about you! Loved the dancing chicken, C.Hicken ;)

  19. How's Pride and Prejudice coming along? The book became more interesting after 100 pages and I got into it about halfway through.

  20. Claire--celery, eh? Well I suppose that works. Everyone needs an enemy vegetable.

Hope--If your mascot has got to strange it better at least have some groove, eh?

Theresa--finished it the same day as my post and am now working on 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and 1984. I agree, the book takes off after you get past all the set up. I found it vague but compelling. Jane Austin doesn't tend to build her settings as fully as Dickens, and its easy to lose track of who's speaking, but she incorporated good emotional tension.

  21. You wrote a musical. WOW! That is just awesomesauce! I love your sons name and I love Pride and Prejudice. I call my husband Mr. Darcy when he looks grumpy and he has no idea what I'm talking about. It's entertainment for me.

And you just influenced a cheese and crackers run to the kitchen. Yum:) And thanks for the follow. Gotcha back.
