Sparkly Vampires: Are you a Twilight Fan?

I don't get into the whole "culture" of fandom, but when it comes to vampires, well, there's a soft spot in my heart. (See the secret project.) It was thus a slap to the face for me, and every other vampire fan when sparkles became associated with them.

Anyhow, happy Funny Friday!

That last 7 seconds gets me.

Are you a fan of sparkly vampires?

  1. I am a fan of Trueblood but I've never seen Twilight. Oh and I love the Anne Rice novels as well!

    1. Yeah, don't bother. The book definitely has something to it, but the movie? *gag* I like Interview with a Vampire, but couldn't really get into Lestat's character. Not enough heart? *shrugs*

  2. I enjoyed Anne Rice's take on the vampires.
But I am not a Twilight fan.

    1. I like most of her take on vampires. I'm not such a fan of her "companionship" undercurrents, but I do enjoy her world.

  3. I loved the books because of the romance. I hated the whole concept of vampires drinking animal blood instead of that of humans and the whole sparkling concept. But her stories were enjoyable reads.

    1. I'm right with you. I didn't so much mind the "vegetarian vampire" aspect, but sparkles? That's offensive.

  4. Cool video! I'm not a fan of sparkly vampires, but I guess the romance aspect is okay.

  5. I'm not a fan of vampires in general. They kind of freak me out with all the blood-sucking. And yet I can get into Dracula stories. And I loved the British version of Being Human (but it was kind of campy and funny most of the time, and the guy who played the vampire was gorgeous). But it was kind of funny how that whole sparkly thing took off in Twilight. I knew what she was going for, but it was perhaps the wrong choice for vampires. :)

    1. SECONDED. I actually hated vampires as a kid. Freaked me out. My hubby, on the other hand, used to sleep in his toy box with his arms crossed. As silly as it may be, Love at First Bite kind of won me over. Who doesn't love a campy vampire with a tan and obsession?

  6. I have a love/hate relationship with vampire fiction. I don't want to get sucked into another one, but when I do...

The niece loves Twilight. And I remember a full on book conversation taking place at the continuation high school, aka the place where the non-academically inclined end up, and the girls were excited about reading. So, for that, Twilight will never be anathema to me.

But, I'm kinda meh on the whole Twilight phenomenon.

    1. Yeah. I enjoyed the books (minus #2), but since then I've discovered so many other vampire books that kick the trash out of Twilight. There are reasons Twilight succeeded, and it has little to do with the "vampire" aspect.

  7. I hate vampires but with a name like Van Helsing that is no surprise.

  8. LOL!!!!! I will pee my pants!!!! Don't know where you found this, but I wanted it to last longer because it's freaking hilarious!!!! I did read the Twilight series and will shamefully admit I got into them, but I also enjoy all the spoofs. Loved Vampires Suck. Happy Friday, lady! Thanks for the crack up! And by the way, I'm eating string cheese. :)

    1. No shame in admitting you liked them. They were fun books. I just have an issue with the sparkles...and love triangle. Grr. Darn love triangles.

    1. AGREED. The host was everything you wished Twilight could be, but wasn't. I've rarely enjoyed a book so much. (Length aside.)

  11. Excellent -- HISHE cartoons crack me up. I used to like vampires when Angel was on, but Twilight kind of ruined them for me.

  15. HISHE is awesome. They are so accurate sometimes. My favorite is the one on LOTR. ;-)

Sorry, off point, but just saying.

Back on point, I'm not a fan of sparkly vamps per say. (My own vampy deliciousness project is a bit of a step in the other direction. And if I say so, lots more yummy, since he doesn't have to pretend to be a teenager so young I'd be jailed. Yeah I should stop typing now.) But I quite liked the series. Same way I quite like 90% of what I read, though.
