Do you love babies?
My dad was a doctor and delivered so many of them. He loved babies so much, he ended up having 8 of his own. Which sounds insane. Because it was. But it was also wonderful. So many people to love, and such a strong support system of family.
In honor of that, today's funnies are brought to you by life lessons babies can teach us all:
I dropped off the planet last month. Perhaps I'm a little more like my dad than I thought because...
We're looking forward to welcoming baby #5, and because my health has been a little tenuous (thank you morning--I mean--all day sickness), I've been taking everything slow. Even reading. *gasp* Every addition to our family has made it sweeter, a little more chaotic, and so much more fulfilling. I'm excited to hold this new one in my arms...in 6 months.
Do you have any awesome news? Anything you're very much looking forward to?

5. Don't be jealous/envious. Share.
4. Show appropriate affection.
(Beware smooches.)
3. Look before you leap.
2. Know the difference between reality and imagination:
1. We're always working on control--refining a little at a time. No one is perfect,
and no one looks graceful all the time, even if they are ADORABLE.
And now, as promised...

Two weeks ago, Katherine Bogle shared HAVEN along with two truths and one lie. Anyone who guessed was entered to win an eBook. If that person also guessed the lie correctly, they would receive FYRE (a collection of short stories) as well.
The game:
1. The second time I ever voted, I was nearly killed on the way to the polls.
2. To tell my first ever crush that I liked him, I chased him around the school yard until I kissed him. He was an a**hole to me in high school. Well deserved? Maybe.
3. I once had 8 cats (seriously, all at the same time).
The lie: #1.
From Katherine: The first time I ever went to vote, I was driving with my best friend. We reached an intersection where we had the right of way (two stop signs on the other sides). As we were going through the intersection, a huge truck flew in front of us. My friend hit the brake mere inches from the truck. We were in a tiny little Chevy at the time, and may have died if the truck struck the side of the vehicle. Thank God for my friend's awesome reflexes!

And the winner is:
...DRUM ROLL...
Congrats, Lynda!
And now for a YA urban fantasy you don't want to miss:
Blinded in an accident, only she can see the truth.
Losing her parents and her sight changes everything for Sibyl Forsyth. Terrified and refusing to accept the gift that she can now "see" into the supernatural realm, Sibyl stays at home, closed off from the outside world.
When she's plagued with a vision of a catastrophic event, Sibyl knows she can't possibly sit back and watch her California coastal town's ultimate demise. Reluctantly, Sibyl sets out to stop her premonition from coming true. With the help of her shifter guide dog, Vago, the two join forces to save the day as they encounter intensely evil spirits with a vicious vendetta. In a race against time, Sibyl and Vago battle their own demons while trying to save the town from an explosive ending that nobody else sees coming.
If you enjoy stories with supernatural visions, suspense, budding romances, and a heroine who has a lot of heart -- then you’ll love Pond's latest urban fantasy series!

She grew up in Kensington, Maryland––a small town just outside Washington D.C.––and spent most of her time filling up journals. In 2013, she published her first fiction novel, The City Center, which won a gold medal in dystopian fiction. She publishes a book every couple months, so be sure to sign up for her mailing list for updates on new releases.
You might find Simone sitting in her living room with a good French baguette and chevre (cheese). She loves cheese so much, it finds its way into her stories: There's a scene in Beyond Sight (the second book in the Coastview Prophecies) where the main character, Sibyl, and her boyfriend, Eli, are eating goat cheese. Simone was a strict vegan for about five years and didn't have any cheese -- at all. She was pretty miserable those five years.
(And understandably! Yikes!)

TRUTH OR LIE
1. I saved someone's life giving them the Heimlich maneuver.
2. I was baptized in the Pacific Ocean.
3. I'm a hoarder.
So sleuths, which is the lie? Have you met Simone? Do you like urban fantasy? Do you have any awesome news? Anything you're very much looking forward to?
Congratulations on the new addition to your family!
ReplyDeleteHmm, maybe you can create your own gifs with all your little ones. :)
LOL. I have actually done that...just not very often. Maybe I'll have to break them out on the blog one day.
DeleteCongratulations, Crystal!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to say the third one is the lie.
And is it wrong I found a couple of those really, really funny? Wish I'd thought of the shadow puppet one when my first nephew was young.
Thanks, Alex. And no, they are funny. I mean seriously, if you can't laugh at kids, you don't deserve cheese.
DeleteWow, congratulations on your news! That is exciting. I'd say you have an excellent excuse to take it easy. I'll write you a note if you need it. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL. Much appreciated.
DeleteOh congrats!!! That all day sickness is evil! Had that with baby #2. Which was a great shock since I had none with the first. Take and easy and enjoy the pregnancy. Best wishes to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteCongratulations, Mama!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carol.
DeleteCongratulations!! I hope the sickness stuff passes soon. No good fun, that. Happy news is always worth sharing. My oldest just got married. I remember holding him in my arms the very first time. It seems like just yesterday. Some days I wish I could go back. Just for a minute or two.
ReplyDeleteMy oldest is on the verge of leaving home and I am SO not ready for that stage. I just want to hug all my littles close and keep them forever.
DeleteYay!!!!
ReplyDelete=)
DeleteOooooh, Hidden Sight sounds like so much fun. Congrats to Simone! I'm going to guess #2 :)
ReplyDeleteIt does, doesn't it?
DeleteCongratulations you crazy, beautiful woman you.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing #3 as the lie. Good luck with Hidden Sight, Simone!
LOL. Crazy for sure. Guaranteed to get more so.
DeleteCongratulations! Such exciting news :-) I'm going to go with #1 as the lie.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteHilarious pictures! LOL! Huge Congratulations to you! A friend of mine just announced baby #3 the other day. 5 - wow! I don't even have a pet right now and I'm behind on half of everything. You're like a super hero. Seriously. I babysat four toddlers a few times 15 years ago, and I'm still scarred.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Simone! I'm going with #3 for the lie today. :)
You know, it's different when they're your own, and you're with them almost all the time. =) But yes, toddlers are a challenge. Especially 4 at once! Yikes.
DeleteOh Crystal! How exciting! I am sorry about all the illness though. Congratulations to Lynda too!
ReplyDeleteHey, it's getting better. Almost through that stage, I hope. Meantime, there's cheese, eh?
DeleteHow nice! Having a large family is a blessing. Take care of yourself. I enjoyed the videos. They are so funny and adorable. Thank you for your visit and leaving a lovely comment.
ReplyDeleteYoko
Thank you for the return visit! It's wonderful to have met you, Yoko.
DeleteCongratulations on your happy news! I hope you're feeling well enough to still eat cheese. :)
ReplyDeleteAlways. Cheese has been my one staple through the last many weeks. Thank goodness for cheese!
DeleteCONGRATS! All day sickness, bleck!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Simone, sounds like a fun read. I'm guessing...#3.
You said it. Thankfully it's starting to ease.
DeleteWho doesn't love babies?! :) My son and daughter-in-law are due the end of this month and I'm super excited!!
ReplyDeleteNumber 2 is a lie. The Pacific Ocean isn't holy enough for a baptism.
How awesome! Now I'm excited for you too.
DeleteCongrats to you and your husband, Crystal!! I love the gifs, especially the one with the "monster-dinosaur-mouth" on the wall. So cute!
ReplyDeleteRight?! It's way too much fun finding these things.
DeleteThose videos are hilarious! And congrats on a new baby. So excited for you!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'm excited for me to.
DeleteCongratulations! Such happy, happy news! I have 4. We haven't made it to 5, but who knows :) Those gifs are fantastic! Babies really are the best!
ReplyDeleteWell this is it for me. We were 3 for a LONG time, and now it's time to be done. Have to get this pregnancy thing over with in the safe window, eh?
DeleteCongratulations! What wonderful news. I don't know that I could cope with 5 kids… 2 is enough for me!
ReplyDeleteLol. 3 almost killed me, but once you learn to manage the chaos...
DeleteCongrats on your baby! How exciting! Loved your pictures, especially the one with the spoon. I love kids and always wanted a big family, though that wasn't meant to be for me.
ReplyDeleteI wondered that it was meant for me as well. Miscarriages and large gaps definitely make you question, though I'm pretty sure you did it right, Natalie. Life is never what we plan, eh?
DeleteCongratulations on the upcoming bundle of joy. I'm sorry you're having morning sickness all day long.
ReplyDeleteYes, those lessons care surely taught by babies. So cute and so true.
Have a fabulous day. ☺
Thanks, Sandee. It's getting better, slowly.
DeleteCongrats! Better you than me - and I mean that in a good way. LOL Any kids at all would've resulted in a personal meltdown.
ReplyDeleteWho says I haven't melted down? Or that I don't on regular basis? Lol. I have the white hairs to prove it.
DeleteCongratulations! #5 is so exciting! Meanwhile, my cohort is just learning about his first.
ReplyDeleteAnd me? I laughed way too hard at that video of the baby with the lampshade eating it. I'm probably not ready for one.
First babies are such a learning curve, and no, I laugh at the lampshade baby too, and would even if it was my own kid. It's stinkin hilarious!
DeleteCongrats on your baby! How exciting! Loved your pictures.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Olivia.
DeleteYAY!!! Congrats on the new baby! Hope you're feeling more yourself soon! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats as well to Simone on her book - sounds great :)
Thank you on both accounts.
DeleteCongrats on your upcoming Darling. 5 of them--you are so darn blessed!
ReplyDeleteYou're telling me!
Delete"Shifter guide dog"??? Okay, I'm in.
ReplyDeleteI'll guess the lie is #3.
Right? Too cool a concept.
DeleteCongratulations! Urgh, morning sickness is horrible, hope it's passing now so you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely getting better. Thank you.
DeleteCONGRATULATIONS!!! How exciting! I hope the morning (i.e. all day) sickness passes quickly, and is replaced with that wonderful good-all-ever sense of well-being pregnancy always brings with it. I'm so happy for you.
ReplyDeleteI loved those baby funnies. With #5 on the way, you could probably add quite a few more funnies of your own. :)
You and me both. Thanks, Susan.
DeleteCongratulations to you both ... the four present and the fifth on its happy way ... brilliant news - just that sicky icky bit is not nice!
ReplyDeleteThe lie # 3 ... right or wrong I've no idea ... but great news for the family ... cheers Hilary
Thank you! My hubby is pretty excited too.
DeleteYay! congratulations. I know what that all day sickness feels like .. . with my first I had it for the full nine months too! Hope yours passes soon and you have a happy, healthy pregnancy. All the best and plenty of cheese!
ReplyDeleteYikes! All 9 months? You are a rock star!
DeleteOh my goodness. That's huge news, Crystal. Congrats and wishing you all the best.
ReplyDeleteSimone, your book sounds great!
Thanks! We're pretty stoked.
DeleteThe lie #3 a hoarder. Thx for the opportunity to win one of your books !! Keep on writing ;-)
ReplyDelete*thumbs up*
DeleteI prefer lil' animals to lil' babies, but these sure are funny indeed
ReplyDeleteBabies are cuter. :P
DeleteFantastic news, Crystal! Loved the gifs, especially lampshade baby who turns on the oven light LOL.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yeah, I laughed hard at that one too.
DeleteCongratulations, Crystal. Looks like you're working to overtake your dad's record. I was sick nearly every day for the whole 9 months with my fourth! Ugh! She was so worth it, though. Love the gifs, all of them.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Simone, love the cover and the premise of your book. #3 is the lie? Writers can't be hoarders, can they? Except of books...
Lol. No, I'm good with 5. I watched my mom handle 8, and that was utter insanity.
DeleteI do like babies. I love the documentary Babies. I show it to my Normal Lifespan class sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI remember the preview for that one, and I totally giggled over it.
DeleteHidden Sight sounds awesome.
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to lie, I don't like babies or kids. Pictures are good and if they're related to me I'm fine, but other than that I have the maternity instincts of a rock.
It's totally different when they're your own.
DeleteCongrats on baby number 5!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteCongrats on your new baby! #2 is a lie. . .
ReplyDeleteLooks like I don't have an account for commenting. Shekeilah here! 👋
*waves* Thanks.
DeleteCongratulations!Adding number 5 to your loving nest. The videos were so funny, they brought a wide smile. Thank you for that!
ReplyDelete*salutes* Glad to be of service, and thank you.
DeleteCongrats Crystal! What a clever way to make your announcement. I hope you find the magic food(s) that helps you through the next few months. I couldn't even look at raw meat when I was expecting, so cooking dinner was a bit of a challenge. Saltines and 7Up helped with the well-past-morning sickness - something I never consumed before or after pregnancy.
ReplyDeleteYeah, my only staple there for a while was cheese. It' getting better.
DeleteCongratulations!! I'm so very excited for you. My parents had 8 kids, my grandparents 10. I love our huge, rambunctious family get togethers.
ReplyDeleteThey are definitely fun, right?
DeleteApparently I would be a terrible cop. I can never tell the difference between the truths and the lie. Hmmm- this time I am going with #3.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your baby news. How exciting! I am sure your house if filled with lots of sounds of love (and some shouting from time to time, because siblings do tend to argue too). ;) Your family parties must be a blast with all the family members. Hope your sickness calms down!
~Jess
I love my very full house. My heart is never happier than when they're all home.
DeleteYAY... Congratulations Crystal, this is awesome news... I too used to have all day sickness... I kept thinking, what is this morning sickness, I could have dealt with that... lol... Thankfully it didn't last the whole time, I hope you feel better soon xox
ReplyDeleteThanks, Launna. One day at a time, eh?
DeleteLoved the funnies, and congrats on ... number FIVE???? Wow, you must have some stamina. We stopped at two, and they are enough of a handful!
ReplyDeleteLol. I grew up in a big household. 5 isn't so bad.
DeleteLol. I grew up in a big household. 5 isn't so bad.
DeleteWelcome baby #5! Those gifs are entertaining. And so much truth in those lessons I must say.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on baby #5!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new addition! The morning sickness does not sound like fun. Hope you will be feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteHuge congratulations. I hope that pesky unwellness does an Elvis and leaves the building soon.
ReplyDeleteHi Crystal, such lovely news, huge congratulations to you! I enjoyed all the funnies but especially the last one (with the spoon). Hidden sight sounds like an exciting read and I really like the cover.
ReplyDeleteI think the lie is #2.
Okay so don't laugh at me. I literally said, "AW!" out loud. Who says you don't make real friendships online? I'm so over-the-moon happy for you! Congratulations!! I hope the sickness passes soon. And those videos are so adorable. i can't pick a favorite. I love them all.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Crystal! Wishing you a healthy and stress-free pregnancy.
ReplyDeleteYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!! I am SO happy for you! Congratulations! Though not so envious of that all day sickness… Yuck. Hopefully it doesn't last.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful news, Crystal. Congratulations. I've always thought a big family would be fun. The pictures are priceless.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the baby, but the all-day sickness doesn't sound like fun at all.
ReplyDeleteAs to the lie, I'm going with #3.
lmao the one with the lampshade I found far too humorous I think. Congrats on #5. Sure a good excuse to take it easy.
ReplyDelete#2 is the lie?
Oh, my goodness! What a way to announce. I'm so excited for you, Crystal! Woo hoo! Hope you feel better soon. Morning sickness is lousy. All day sickness is even worse.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the new addition to your family.
ReplyDeleteJuneta @ Writer's Gambit
Well, I've already told you this but congratulations. Another miracle to add to your family.
ReplyDeleteI thought the baby clips were so funny I couldn't pick a favorite.
I'm going with #3 as the lie, because the other two sound like they were made up so they probably weren't.
A Big and wonderful congrats to you, Crystal!
ReplyDeleteAnd woo!! I won!!!!!!! Looking forward to reading Haven.
Congratulations on baby number five! I am so impressed that you have four kids and all-day sickness and you still managed to write this wonderful post. I hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! What a lovely thing for you, your husband, and family! I don't know how you do all that you do! Take care!

ReplyDeleteAlso, I feel like the baby with the lampshade on its head walking into the oven pretty much sums up my life ;)
Wishing you all the best!
Congratulations on the new addition to your family. Wow, five. Lots of love there.
ReplyDeleteI do like urban fantasy.
I think the lie is, number 2.
Wow, amazing news! Congratulations, Crystal! I'm sure your kids are excited too. Loved the baby gifs. Great advice! I hope you're able to take it easy and put your feet up right now.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I'm guessing the hoarder statement is the lie
ReplyDeleteBig congratulations, Crystal!!! :) And the baby lessons are great.
ReplyDeleteHappy Dance! Congrats Crystal!! Please take care of yourself!! 5 children!! Wow, bless your heart! And, you had 8 brothers and sisters around you growing up? Wow!! Sending Big Hugs!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! Congratulations! Wishing you all my very best!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Crystal! Fantastic news. As the lie, I'll go for #2.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Crystal!!! I have 5 children and love a big family. Since you come from a large family, you already know the ups and downs...
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! :) Rest up. The lie is #3.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your coming arrival!
ReplyDeleteI'll guess the lie is #1.
You made me smile and then your announcement made me smile bigger. I have 6 children and came from a family of 7. The more the merrier. My children all love each other too.
ReplyDeleteBaby #5?! Wow, how exciting! Many congrats on the latest addition to your family!
ReplyDeleteBabies are so much fun and the rewards of raising children can be so fulfilling. I've helped to raise four plus one stepdaughter and now I've got 5 grandkids (that I don't see hardly enough). Not only are the babies wonderful, but they're pretty cool when they reach adulthood.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the upcoming arrival!

Congratulations!!! That's amazing! I had no idea you had such a large family. I don't know how you find time to do everything you do. I'm in awe!

ReplyDeleteAnna from elements of emaginette
I do adore watching babies explore the world around them. Many congratulations to you! Enjoy every moment.
ReplyDeleteThose babies are so adorable . . . and funny! Wow! Another baby on the way! How exciting! Congratulations! Really, I don't know how you do it all. You are amazing, you superwoman, you!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, congratulations, Crystal! Five is a lucky number! But I have to say, I'm a little partial. :) I really hope your all day sickness eases up because that stuff is never fun! So excited for you! <3
ReplyDeleteOh wow, congratulations on baby no 5!
ReplyDeleteMust be great having a large family, I 'only' have one sister and wouldn't want to be without her!
Have a great day,

Congratulations. ^_^ While I don't have kids, I've seen two close friends go through their pregnancies for their first children, and it's kind of an amazing process. Hope all goes well and you feel better from now on.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Crystal! That's amazing. I wish you all the joy, blessings, and a prompt end to your all-day sickness. *hugs*
ReplyDeleteI choose hoarder as the lie (#3).
OMG! Congratulations!!!! I hope the morning sickness gets better. Hurry up September!
ReplyDeleteI'm saying the baptism is the lie, simply based on where she was born.
ReplyDeleteCongratulation to you on #5! I'm the oldest of five. It's not a bad number. ;)
Congratulations! I hope all goes well. What a blessing. I've just started watching "Call the Midwife," so I have babies on the brain.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your little one on the way! What an exciting time for your family. :)
ReplyDeleteHidden Sight sounds delightful! I'll play, and my guess is that number three, that Simone is a Hoarder, is the lie.
Congratulations! Wow, that's so exciting! I hope the morning sickness passes soon!
ReplyDeleteI think the lie is number two.
I'm from a big family too, so I totally get the craziness aspect. It's good-crazy (mostly). :) And congratulations on your new baby!
ReplyDeleteI'll say #2 for the lie.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a great book! And UF, right up my fav lane.
Crystal, congratulations and best wishes on the little life growing inside you.
Ooh, congratulations! That's such exciting news! And I loved the baby memes that you shared.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Love the idea of a big family and lots of cousins!
ReplyDeleteMuch congrats on babe number five. Super duper exciting news. Go you.
ReplyDeletePS: Loved your idea about the apples. Wanted to try this with carrots and sweet potatoes and thanks to your idea, apples too.
LOL. I think that was more of a craving than genius.
