A laugh for you today--if you get into a dry and somewhat sadistic sense of humor: Portal 2, the most hilarious game I've ever seen. You wake up in testing center where humanity is dead and all that's left are the machines running the place, one of which is arguably evil. This is the song from the end credits, and it totally cracks me up. (The lyrics, oh the lyrics...)
Have you played/seen any video games that make you chuckle?
Are you ready to meet a new author and enter to win an out of this world book?

that there is an alien intelligence behind the chitin. To defeat it, he must

foster parents. Will the price he has to pay in his quest for vengeance

Kurt gave me two truths and one lie to test your "lie detector" skills. Those who figure out the lie will go into my magic hat for a chance to win a $5 gift card to Amazon. You have until Tuesday, May 20, at 1 p.m. EDT to guess--and be sure to come back for the answer on May 21.
TRUTH OR LIE
1. Kurt originally wrote a fantasy novel entitled the Queen of Thieves.
2. He doesn't like beer, but not for a lack of
trying.
3. He loves tequila.

I sincerely hope #2 is a lie :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you're right.
DeleteHI, Crystal..
ReplyDeleteWe must be thinking of one another... LOL. As I'm writing this you commented on my blog!
CONGRATS on you new cover reveal... COUNT ME IN!
You're right, the lyrics are hysterical ... thanks for the laugh!
Congrats to Kurt on Vengeance... Looks like an intriguing read. An interesting plot for sure...
The lie... I'd have to say number 2.
We were totally listening to the same cosmic channel. Crazy! I'm so glad you'll be part of the reveal. Yay!
DeleteLots going on here today! How exciting to be revealing your new cover soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Barbara. I'm pretty stoked.
Deleteso nice to see Medeia with her book all around the blogosphere!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever played/watched a video game that made me chuckle, but I'm sure my ten year old has. Dang kiddo knows them all by heart.
ReplyDeleteAnd a big WOOT for you, Crystal!
Thanks, Sherry! I'm pretty excited.
DeleteThe lie must be #2.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your cover!
Thanks, Carol.
DeleteI've signed up - I'll have to post on the last date as I have scheduled my blog tour for the other dates! :D
ReplyDeleteThat works for me. Thanks a ton, Kyra!
DeleteI'm going with number tone as the lie. I'm assuming if he worked hard to like beer, tequila fit the bill.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Great logic.
DeleteI love the cover for Price of Vengeance. I think #3 is the lie.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely gets your imagination going, eh?
DeleteI'm going to guess #3.
ReplyDeleteI signed up for the reveal. :)
Yay! Thank you.
DeleteI signed up! :)
ReplyDeleteI'll guess #3, only because I can't stand tequila...
That's sound reasoning to me. I'll totally take it.
DeleteI'll guess the lie is #3.
ReplyDeleteI'm biased, given my love of art and older books, but I think an awesome cover is hand-drawn, with a more personal look. Of course, I've seen lots of awesome digitally-created covers too.
I know what you mean. I think it totally depends on what you're going for with your cover.
DeleteYay for the cover reveal!
ReplyDeleteMedeia's book is good. I'm almost finished reading it.
Ooh! I want to get to it too, but there are a few MUST READS before I can get anywhere near.
DeleteI loved Clay Fighter. It would always crack me up. Blue Suede Goo was my favorite character to choose to battle. He was an Elvis impersonator who's signature move was to whip his pompadour at his opponents. Ahh, good times.
ReplyDeleteSigning up for the cover reveal!
Ava, now I'm totally going to have to go hunt that one down. Awesome! (Thank you!)
DeleteHaven't read Medeia's book yet, but getting to it soon. Gonna sign up for your cover reveal.
ReplyDeleteYay! So happy to have you on board.
DeleteGreat laugh on the lyrics. And for Kurt's lie, I'm guessing number two.
ReplyDeleteDeb@ http://debioneille.blogspot.com
I chuckle just thinking about the song. =)
DeleteHappy to see Medeia here.
ReplyDeleteOooo, Soulless looks wonderfully creepy.
It's going to be epic for sure.
DeleteMy guess is #3!
ReplyDeleteLoved the video. :D My husband has played both Portal and Portal 2. I watched over his shoulder from time to time, but I made sure to sit through the credits.
Same. The commentary throughout...oh my goodness...I seriously busted up so many times.
DeleteLOL, nice way to keep us all reading til the end! CONGRATS to you and Kurt and Medeia!
ReplyDeleteI know! Masters of suspense, right? That's what we're training to be.
DeleteCongrats to everyone! I can't wait to see your new cover. I've signed up! :)
ReplyDeleteAs for the lie, hmm, #3.
Yay! Thank you, Christine.
DeleteLet's hear it for anthropology professors!!! Woot! This makes me happy :) And obviously #2 is a lie--there isn't an archaeologist on this planet who doesn't drink beer. (Well, me, but that's another story...). Also, looking forward to your cover reveal!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Meradeth. I'm looking forward to the reveal too.
DeleteI can't wait to help with your cover reveal, Crystal!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm going to guess that the lie is #3.
Thanks, Chrys.
DeleteI'm going to go with #2, because I used to not like beer until I tried enough of them to discover I like stouts. ;D
ReplyDeleteAh, so you just have to find your own variation, eh? (I wouldn't know.)
DeleteCongratulations on your new cover... how awesome <3
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I keep trying to tell myself that the amazing joy I felt was worth all the pain... hmmm.. yet I still want to find it again.... it was that amazing :-/
One day at a time. You'll get there.
DeleteI'm horrid at the one lie thing...even with people I know very well...sorry.
ReplyDeleteI do always enjoy your posts chock full of info about authors. I especially like knowing early influences and writing habits. In short, your blog is always a fun stop, even if I don't "play all the reindeer games."
Friend stopped by yesterday with a welsh cheddar that was uh-mazing. Can't remember the name and it was a small chunk and the wrapper is gone...
Tina @ Life is Good
On the Open Road! @ Join us for the 4th Annual Post-Challenge Road Trip!
Ooh! Welsh cheddar? You've got my mouth watering.
DeleteThe cake is a lie...
ReplyDelete(I'm a HUGE Portal fan)
Yes! That's because you have fabulous taste.
DeleteI signed up for the cover reveal. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm so glad, Stephanie.
DeleteGiant insects! Oh my! Sounds kinda fun though. :)
ReplyDeleteHmm...I'm thinking Lie #3.
Yay for the next installment of your series! ^_^
Would love to help with the cover reveal, but I am not that savvy. I think the lie is #3 and the cover logo looks great. Fun post. Maria, Delight Directed Living
ReplyDeleteI totally understand. It took me a while on the blogosphere before I was comfortable with several aspects.
DeleteI have never played a video game. I need to protect my sensitive eyes, and games seem boring to me anyway.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie, the party pooper
LOL! That's just because you missed out on the hilarious dialog in Portal II. I don't play much, but there are a couple games that are really just like an interactive movie, and those are the ones I go for.
DeleteAll signed up for your cover reveal.
ReplyDeleteAnd my guess is #3 is the lie. I personally don't like beer OR tequila.
Wahoo! I'm right there with you. No drinking for Crystal.
DeleteI was quite surprised to learn I'd won SNIP SNIP REVENGE, but very pleased. ^_^ Looking forward to reading it as soon as I'm on a computer that can open a book file again. Eh heh heh...
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the Portal games. Insane AIs are the best AIs.
Yay! I'm so glad you won--and I totally agree about AI. That's why Terminator was rocktastic.
DeleteI'm going to go w/#3! Just from the pic, Kurt looks like a beer kinda guy. Maybe it's the beard...? =D
ReplyDeleteLOL! You should see my hubby's beard, and he doesn't drink at all.
DeleteI'll guess the beer one is the lie. I mean, I don't like beer, but I'm not a guy. Never met a guy who didn't like the stuff.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the Soulless reveal! I'll tweet it out for you.
I actually have met quite a few guys who don't like the stuff, but yeah, I can see where they're more the exception to the rule.
DeleteYay! Thank you, Julie.
I don't know how you do it all! You are super woman, and must be incredibly organized! I think that number 1 is the lie, but once again, it's hard to tell. And I'm looking forward to your cover reveal! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteOrganized or insane. I won't deny either. ;)
DeleteLooking forward to your reveal, Crystal! I think it must be #2.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jenni!
DeleteVery excited to see your new cover... I'm all signed up to help spread the word:)
ReplyDeleteYippee! Thank you.
DeleteOoh, Kurt's book sounds awesome. I'm guessing #1.
ReplyDeleteAnd wahoo on your upcoming cover reveal!!
Thanks, Kimberly.
DeleteLie...#2?
ReplyDeleteI'd offer to help with the cover reveal, but my blog... Well, if you don't mind my low stats...
Low stats! Hah. You know I'd love to have your help either way, Liz.
DeleteJust signed up for the cover reveal! I bet it's as stunning as the first book's cover... :)
ReplyDeleteYay! Thanks, Heather. I'm totally stoked about this one. It really is pretty stellar.
DeleteI think #2 is the lie.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to have been featured last Wednesday. :)
Of course I'll participate in your cover reveal.
Thanks, Medeia, and I'm totally glad I got to feature you last week. Thank you for the opportunity.
DeleteI fear the lie is number 2
ReplyDeleteFear, eh? Okay. ;)
DeleteI'll guess number one. Just because it doesn't sound like a lie.
ReplyDeleteI don't need any prizes so I'm not signing up officially for your reveal but I'll be very happy to put it on my blog that week.
Aw. Thanks LD. I've got you down on my master list. Cheese for you!
DeleteCrystal, if that song gets stuck in my head - ugh! hahaha
ReplyDeleteThe Soulless cover is amazing. Great job!! And, congrats to everyone!!
Elsie
Thanks, Elsie. I'm pretty stoked. (I hope the song didn't get stuck in your head.)
DeleteI'm going with #2 He doesn't like beer.
ReplyDeleteWhy? Because I LOVE beer. lol
LOL. Of course you do. =)
DeleteOkay, so I have to come back to watch the video . . . but I signed up for the cover reveal, woot!!! I'm so excited I'm going to have some cheese right now!
ReplyDeleteAnd the lie . . . I'm going with #2. :D
Yippee! Thanks a ton! I think that's a great idea. I should go have some cheese too.
DeleteAlthough the counting in 8's made me suspicious, I wouldn't picked #3 for Medeia since I don't think she's old enough to remember what a fad those Rubik's cubes were.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to your cover, since you did such a great job with the Moonless cover. Have a good weekend, Crystal. :)
Thanks, Lexa. It's actually the graphic artist who did an amazing job with Moonless, but what can I say? He's a keeper.
DeleteIf #3 is true, we have that in common! Only in Margaritas. And that video....LOL! They did a fantastic job. It sounds SO good!
ReplyDeleteI know, right?
DeleteHowdy Crystal! Soulless looks fantastically nightmarish. Oooooh yeah!
ReplyDeleteI'd say #3 is the lie, but I'm always wrong about them. Ha.
Maybe a little scary, no worse than the first one.
DeleteAnd you're not always wrong, Robyn. ;)
I'm sure I've played some video games that made me laugh, although I suspect that many of the laughs had nothing to do with the developers trying to be funny. That reminds me, I need to get back and finish Portal 2.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I know what you mean. Some of the dialog... Whew! I just wonder if anyone listened to it before going to publication or they were like, "Yeah, yeah, it's great."
Delete#2 has to be a lie. :D I'm happy to help with your cover reveal, Crystal.
ReplyDeleteYay! Thank you, Mary.
DeleteThose Portal singers are adorable.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and much success on Souless, Crystal, and to Madeia and Kurt too.
xoRobyn
They are, aren't they? I totally love Peter Hollens.
DeleteThanks, Robyn.
Congrats to all the books and authors!!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to go with #2 as the lie.
And anyone with an interest in megalithic structures in Ireland is someone I have to check out! I'll ramble over to Kurt's blog :) Thanks for this review!
~Jen
Glad to introduce you, Jen. =)
DeleteThat video was funny...made me giggle a bit!
ReplyDeleteI know! It makes me chuckle every time.
DeleteI'll go sign up for the reveal.
ReplyDeleteI'll guess 2 for the lie!
Yay! Thanks a ton, wonderful lady.
DeleteI'm signing up for the reveal. I think #1 is the lie, unless it's unpublished? DARN IT. lol
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
LOL! Thanks for signing up, Tiffany. *super grin*
DeleteI have to go for #2 for the lie, what true man doesn't like beer? I think he consumes vast quantities of Guinness along with his Kerrygold (at first I thought that was beer, but something was telling me it was butter, turned out it was cheese. Trust you to work in cheese somewhere!) I got Medeia's right, so I'm on a roll. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL. There's always cheese here. ;) Way to guess, Medeia's lie. That was a tough one.
DeleteCool song. It's catchy for such dire lyrics.
ReplyDeleteI know! The tongue-in-cheek humor totally gets me.
DeleteI'm for #2 as the lie. Yep. That's my vote and I'm sticking with it.
ReplyDeleteSend me your stuff for your cover reveal. I'll help get the word out.
Yippee! Thanks a ton, Lee.
DeleteThanks for the laugh. It is always welcome.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. We need a few more of them around here, eh?
Deletesigning up and I hear Medeia books is fab!!
ReplyDeleteYippee! *high five* I can't wait to read her book either.
DeleteCool post and enjoyed reading the post:)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI'm glad Medeia's book is getting such great buzz!
ReplyDeleteMe too.
DeleteHi Crystal!
ReplyDeleteCount me in for the reveal!
Randi! Yay. I've totally been neglecting you, haven't I? Shame on me.
DeleteHi Crystal .. I guess # 1 ... but so good and waiting to see the cover reveal ... and congratulations to Mason on guessing about the eights ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be worth the wait, Hilary. =)
DeleteCongratulations on the new cover. I don't play a lot of video games. Have a terrific weekend!
ReplyDeleteI don't either, but they're my hubby's ultimate hobby, so he keeps me up on the best of the best.
DeleteUh... I'm going with the lie being #2. I have no reason, except that the lie part could be that he *does* like beer or that he doesn't like beer but he's only tried it once (so hasn't really *tried*).
ReplyDeleteI'm going to stop rambling and go sign up for your cover reveal now ;)
LOL. I love your rambles, Rhonda, and I'm super stoked to have you along. =)
DeleteKurt does not like Tequila! :)
ReplyDelete(He says with authority.) ;)
Delete#2 is a Lie C:
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to help reveal the Cover for Soulless!! C:
Yay! I can't wait either. =)
DeleteI'd love to help with the cover reveal-- but the link doesn't show the entire signup page for me, only boxes to enter name and email. Congratulations on the new book, and have yourself a fab weekend!
ReplyDeleteLady, I'll totally have to get in touch with you. I wonder why it isn't working...
DeleteI'd love to sign up for the Soulless Cover Reveal, But I'll be on vacation that week and where I'm going doesn't not have internet! Perhaps I can put something up after the 19th??
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. I'm totally flexible.
DeleteI am guessing the beer one is the lie (#2)- but this was a hard one!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new book. How exciting!
~Jess
Thanks, Jess. (It was a little tricky, eh?)
DeleteI'm guessing the beer #2 as well. I mean what's better than beer? I don't play video games. I love games, but I'm more the Scrabble and Dominoes type.
ReplyDeleteCheese. Cheese is better than beer. ;)
DeleteI don't play a lot of video games, but my son keeps trying to change that. That we should play Minecraft and Clash of the Clans so we can bond. I guess I won't complain he still wants to play with me online, because in another few years that probably won't be true. :)
ReplyDeleteHey, you have to take those moments while they last, eh?
DeletePrice of Vengeance looks cool, thanks for the info about it:)
ReplyDeleteGlad to share, Mark.
DeleteCongrats on your new release. It must be really exciting for you. This is such good news.
ReplyDeleteThanks much.
DeleteBonkers video - love it!
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty fun, eh?
DeleteMedeia's book is rocking!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the laughs too!
...and congrats on the new release! You're on a roll!
Thanks, Michelle.
DeleteCongrats on your release! I just looked up Moonless on Goodreads and added it--sounds FABULOUS. :D
ReplyDelete*super grin*
DeleteThe expressions on that guy's face as he is singing cracked me up as much as the words.
ReplyDeleteAnd, oh my, the thought of giant, carnivorous insects is giving me the heebie jeebies!
He's pretty funny, eh? I love Peter Hollens.
DeleteLOL I read it as Medeia used to be the wicked witch, so I was surprised at first that it wasn't the lie.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Well, if she take up a broom or turns green any time soon... ;)
DeleteYay! I've just signed up for the cover reveal :)
ReplyDeleteYippee! Thanks, Ellie.
Delete
