And the lie is:
#1. Misha and her mom own OVER 15000 paperbacks! (They last counted 10 years ago.) 15000 FOLKS! I know where I want to go hang out for the weekend, or life.
Way to guess those of you who got it right! You are officially human lie detectors. And the winner is:
And now, let me introduce you to the wonderful author:

And now shall we away to our Writerly Wednesday feature?

Misha's game:
1. Misha and her mom own about 8000 paperback books.
2. She wanted to learn how to fence and speak French after reading The Three Musketeers. She learned both, although her French is rusty.
3. Her first ever published piece of writing was a poem she wrote in Eleventh Grade. And the lie is:

Congrats, Jess!
Today I'm super excited. My stellar writing buddy, Nicole Zoltack is here to share with us a book I CANNOT wait to read. Seriously. The blurb:
Once a year for the past decade, Nicholas Adams
returns to Falledge and leaves a black hellebore on his girlfriend's grave.
While departing Falledge, he chases after a man sneaking into the laboratory
and dies for his trouble. A witch brings him back to life, but Nicholas soon
realizes he's not the same man. Turns out, magic combined with a black
hellebore in his pocket changed him into a kind of a super man.
His girlfriend's twin, Julianna Paige, is Falledge's deputy, struggling to solve several murders. Nicholas, and his alter ego the Black Hellebore, helps her, even as she helps him move on and even start to love again.
Unfortunately, Nicholas wasn't the only one changed in the laboratory explosion, and now there's a super villain bent on destroying Falledge, and killing the Black Hellebore. But falling in love might prove more dangerous than any super villain.

And now, let me introduce you to the wonderful author:
Nicole Zoltack writes speculative stories for all ages. When
she's not writing about knights or superheroes, she loves to spend time with
her loving husband and three energetic young boys. She loves riding
horses (pretending they're unicorns, of course!) and going to the PA
Renaissance Faire, dress in garb. She'll also read anything she can get her
hands on. Her favorite current TV show is The Walking Dead.
Nicole loves all cheese everywhere and can be found eating them anywhere...except the bathtub.
TRUTH OR LIE
1. Nicole hasn't gone horseback riding in over six years.
2. She hates talking on the phone and begs her hubby to make phone calls for her.
3. She's training for a marathon this fall.
Remember to join my SUPER FUN blogfest. Details HERE. Oh, and enter to win a free PHYSICAL copy of my book today on Goodreads! (Open to US, CA, GB, and AU.)
Okay, what is the lie? What's your favorite Jack Sparrow moment? Do you like Super Heroes? How about Pirates?
I'm saying 3 is the lie - mainly because I want it to be. So many people are training for marathons I'm feeling really lazy.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Hey, I'm lazy with you. *fist bump*
DeleteThanks for guessing, Patsy!
DeleteFav Jack moment??? WAYYYYY too many. lol I loved the scene in the desert with the ship and all the crabs. Haha! Johnny totally made that happen. He's made of awesome.
ReplyDelete#1 is the lie.
He is made of awesome. Wait... Are you saying he's secretly made of cheese? *gasp*
DeleteIt's impossible to pick one favorite Jack moment!
DeleteAlways in the mood for Jack Sparrow funnies.
ReplyDeleteAnd congratulations to Nicole! I'm going to go with #3 as the lie. I hope it's not #2 because I hate talking on the phone and want to have a kindred spirit.
LOL! Julie, you have a kindred spirit in my husband. He makes me call the pizza place. Yup.
DeleteThanks, Julie! :)
DeleteI think #1 is the lie.
ReplyDeleteAnd Jack Sparrow moments--I love it when he steals the coin and becomes immortal just long enough to save the day. Good stuff.
So true. The best Pirates was the first one for sure.
DeleteDefinitely loved the first one the most.
DeleteThat many books scares me.
ReplyDeleteFor Nicole, I'm guessing the one about the marathon is the lie.
I know what you mean. I can't even imagine how you'd shelf that many--unless you owned a library.
DeleteThanks for guessing, Alex!
Delete15,000 paperbacks?!?!? Have they read them all?
ReplyDeleteThat's what I want to know too!
DeleteGood question!
DeleteHmm. Maybe I should start blogging multiple times per week and then switch back to once a week so I feel like it's totally manageable. LOL. That might be slightly backwards...?
ReplyDelete15,000....15,000????? HOLY WOW. Amazing. And I thought 8,000 would be a lot!
Congratulations, Nicole! It sounds intriguing!
LOL! It definitely puts things into perspective, Liz. =)
DeleteThanks, Liz! :D
DeleteI'm going with three, no reason...just doing the, if you don't know pick C rule.
ReplyDeleteOnce a week posting...hmm, I like it. Must consider for myself.
It's definitely nice. I started with once a week, amped it up to 2 times a week, jumped to 5 days a week, diminished to 3 days a week, and now, well, this is doable.
DeleteI did follow the C rule a few times on tests.
Delete15,000! Wow!
ReplyDeleteI'll guess that number 3 is the lie.
I know, right? You have to build a whole house JUST for the books.
DeleteI can't wrap my mind around 15,000 either. Wow!
DeleteJohnny Depp is my spirit animal. (I saw that on Pinterest, totally cracked me up. Also, true.)
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing #2. Because I've been known to do that, I'll admit! :)
Spirit animal... That one's going to take further thought.
DeleteJohnny Depp would make an awesome spirit animal!
DeleteSo many times I thought it was Friday and it ends up being Wednesday... lol
ReplyDeleteNature's cruelest joke. =)
DeleteVery cruel!
DeleteLoved the Jack Sparrow pics and comments. Good luck to Nicole with her book. I'll be interested to see what the lie is. No idea.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Natalie!
DeleteNicole's book sounds fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI think her lie is #1
I love Captain Jack Sparrow :)
It does, doesn't it? I need more time.
DeleteYeah, I wish we were further along too. :)
ReplyDeleteBlack Hellebore sounds like quite a story.
Ah, patience, young padawan.
DeleteJohnny Depp is my favorite actor. Everything he does is perfect.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I'm going to have to pay more attention. Perfect, huh?
DeleteYes, perfect. He's beautiful.
DeleteI'm guessing #1 is the lie...
ReplyDeleteAlso, that is a LOT of paperbacks.
And who doesn't like Jack??
You mean who doesn't like Jack outside of the fictional world? He seemed to have quite a few enemies inside the realms of his "world." =)
DeleteI'm going for #2. Although #1 is begging... No. Number 2.
ReplyDeleteJack Sparrow is a great character :D
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping that 3 is the lie just so I'll feel slightly better about myself. 2 is definitely a truth for me. I HATE talking on the phone. I'm really awkward, you see...
Writing Through College
Ooh! We should start a club of anti-phone-ists. You read that right. Yeah! We could even get not-for-profit status, and special treatment by the government... It would be great, right?
DeleteGotta love Jack Sparrow!
ReplyDeleteMy guess is #2, makes sense to me. It is often that way in my house...Although if it is #3, more power to her!!
LOL.
DeleteCaptain Jack does make a good animated gif. And congrats to Nicole!
ReplyDeleteHe's got that kind of mug.
DeleteMy favorite Jack Sparrow moment:
ReplyDeleteCapt Barbossa: Why, thank ye, Jack.
Jack Sparrow: You're welcome.
Capt Barbossa: Oh, not you. We named the monkey Jack.
That's a great one. I think my favorite is, "The only rules that really matter are these: what a man can do and what a man can't do."
DeleteThe Jack Sparrow funnies made my day! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Jess.
And I'm guessing the marathon is made up.
Fun post Crystal :)
And yay for having Nicole over here. She's wonderful :)
For her lie I will guess...
Yay! I posted them for you, Emilyann. *nodding emphatically* Just for you. ;)
DeleteYeah! I am so excited to have won The Vanished Knight and I look forward to reading it. :) Thanks so much! I can't get over the number of books Misha and her mom have! Wow!
ReplyDeleteThis week I am guessing the lie is the marathon...
Also- I hate when I think it is the end of the week and I still have days to go! :)
~Jess
It's like going to make a cheese sandwich only to discover YOU'RE OUT OF CHEESE! *gasp* ;)
DeleteHey Crystal,
ReplyDeleteHave some English cheese! Nice to see some of my adoring author fans getting a mention on here. Number two is the lie for Nicole. Or maybe she just has to face the fax. Yay to Misha.
Sorry, blog fests make me want to scream! :) I thought that was Russell Brand auditioning as Jack Sparrow. Ooohh aaarrrr....
Gary :)
Gary! I've been negligent about getting out to see you and Penny this last couple weeks. (Maybe it was due to the fests...) Awesome to see you, cheesy pal!
DeleteLol. Thanks for the great post.
ReplyDeleteLol. Thanks for reading it. ;)
DeleteOh, Jack. The only dirty, crusty man I've ever had a crush on. Well, besides my husband after a work out, but he's pretty quick to shower. Jack on the other hand... doesn't seem to shower much. Also, Crystal, I have something that I want to send to you. I'll email you! =)
ReplyDeleteLOL! Dirty man smell...yeah, definitely not the most appetizing thing in the world. =)
DeleteLove Jack Sparrow, aka Johnny Depp. Thanks for posting the funnies, and I'm glad your reduced blog schedule is helping you to reach other goals.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Denise.
DeleteNicole's book sounds really interesting.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Jack moment is at the beginning of the first movie, when Keira Knightley falls off the cliff and the two policemen who have him in custody refuse to save her, he rolls his eyes and dives in and saves her himself. So cool.
That is a pretty excellent moment.
DeleteGotta love Jack Sparrow. I'm guessing number one is the lie.
ReplyDeleteYou have to. Right?
DeleteBut does Misha have a faaavorite PB ... ?
ReplyDeleteThat's a good question.
DeleteI can't say I'm a Pirates of the Caribbean fan. I only saw the first one and it was on a date where my date fell asleep and left me there to watch the movie alone. I ended up hating the movie because I associated it with being annoyed for two hours! So glad to be married now (not to the sleeping guy!)...maybe I should give the movie a second chance.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I can see where that would ruin them for you. (Pst, you only really need to see the first.)
DeleteCan't go wrong with Jack Sparrow! For me, though, nothing ruins my Friday like realizing it's no longer Wednesday, haha. (Time has been speeding by way too fast for me lately. I can't keep up with everything!)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I KNOW what you mean. Time goes WAY too fast.
DeleteI'll be going to posting one day a week when I come back from hiatus, too. Everyone who's done it says it helps a lot. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's true. Welcome to the club. (Except I'm going to be breaking protocol for the next two weeks. *shrugs* It has to be done.)
DeleteI love pirates, especially Jack Sparrow!
ReplyDeleteFrom their pegged legs to rotting teeth, eh? =)
DeleteI'm liking only posting on Wednesdays too, Crystal. It's freeing, huh? 15,000!? I like to read, but that's an awesome amount of books.
ReplyDeleteFor Nicole, I'll guess #1 is the lie.
Freeing. Yes. My every writerly thought no longer evolves around my blog. (Wait, is that a good thing?)
DeleteAh, man. I have less than 1500 books. Well, the library book sale is coming up. I'll have to see what I can do.
ReplyDeleteIt's officially a competition. ;)
DeleteMmm, Jack Sparrow. How can a man be so sexy even making faces like those? I'm guessing #3 is the lie for Nicole, but don't include me for the prize drawing. I've already read that great superhero book! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL! He's got as much character as one of your creations. (And that's saying something.) ;)
DeleteI think #1's the lie (don't know why, though).
ReplyDeleteI just like Jack. Can't pick a favorite moment. :-D
i am liking pirates more and more these days--probably because my dil has written a novel around them---the marathon runner is the lie
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Jack Sparrow funnies. You made Mma and I laugh.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing 1 is the lie. She probably hasn't been horseback riding in a while, but six years seems too exact a period? Like that's where the detail is where the lie is?
I think #3 is a lie.
ReplyDeleteHilarious post. I love Jack Sparrow.
Great Jack Sparrow moments. Don't know if I really have a fave. :) Congrats to Nicole and her book!! It DOES sound like an awesome read.
