Friendlies! First of all, thank you everyone who participated (and continue to participate) in my cover reveal. You are awesomesauce! And now it's time for...
Writerly Wednesdays here are dedicated to readers and writers. If you've published anything for Young Adults, check out the tab up there.
And now, it's time to announce the winner of MOONLESS, yes, my beautiful baby. Last week I shared two truths and one lie. Those who guessed correctly were entered into a random drawing for the win.
The options were:
1. I have repelled into, crawled through or camped overnight in several different caves.
Now, almost everyone guessed #2. Is that really so strange a thing? BECAUSE IT'S TRUE! A glacier on the peek above us ran off into this lake. (And you thought you knew the meaning of cold.) As a family we spent a week high above civilization camped on the shore, and while searching for entertainment, we gathered small logs and other driftwood and lashed together a raft that could carry about 130 pounds.
So the lie is:

The options were:
1. I have repelled into, crawled through or camped overnight in several different caves.
2. I helped build a raft to float across a glacier lake in the Wind River Mountains.
3. I hiked Zions National Park with my new husband while two months pregnant.
#3, I was actually 4 months pregnant when we hiked Zions. Hey, no one told me a pregnant woman is supposed to be off-balance, but OH did I learn!
Way to guess those of you who got it right! You are amazing human lie detectors. And the winner is:
...DRUM ROLL...
Marian!!
Congrats, Marian!
And now for this week's special feature...
Aurora Valente is an
average
teenager...except for a disturbing
tendency to purr and chase the
wildlife.
MINDER was released at
MuseItUp Publishing May 2012, and you can pick it up HERE.
Shall we meet the author?
She laments that there are so many cheeses, and so little
time--but won't say no to feta on a salad at Panara's. You can find her on the web HERE.
Sandra gave me two truths and one lie to test your "lie detector" skills. Can you figure out the lie? Those who do will go into my magic hat for a chance to win a paper copy of Vampire Bay. Eek! How cool is that? You have until Tuesday, October 15th at 1 p.m. to guess--and be sure to come back for the answer on October 16th to view the answer!

TRUTH OR LIE
1. Sandra has a black belt in Thai Quan Do.
2. She's been a vegetarian for 15 years.
3. She once ran a cat rescue and is still involved in rescues and occasionally, foster care.
Okay human lie detectors, which is the lie?
You Rock! Just sayin.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Silly husband, I adore you!
DeleteHmm. I'm guessing she doesn't have a black belt. So, I'd say the lie is #1.
ReplyDeleteI'm betting she has a blackbelt, at least one somewhere in her massive wardrobe. ;)
DeleteFirst one is a lie
ReplyDeleteOooh! Look who knows so much. ;)
DeleteMan...these are all believable....and just think...PART of it could be a lie...like she could be a vegetarian for like...10 years...not 15...
ReplyDeletebut...I'm going to say #1.
LOL! I love the thought process here. =)
DeleteGood luck to Sandra! I use a lot of martial arts in my first book. But no vegetarians though. My characters eat way too much of everything.
ReplyDeleteAH! You're a foodie? Or are your characters foodies? Hm.
DeleteLucky Marian! Oh Crystal I love your book cover! Yay for Moonless!

Aw, thanks, Nutchell.
DeleteSandra it's nice to meet you! I am gonna say #2 is a lie.
ReplyDeleteThey all sound so believable. I'm going to guess #1 as the lie.
ReplyDeleteWhat did I guess last week? Hmmm. This week... I'll go with #1.
ReplyDeleteI'm onto you now. It's all just a randomized game for you, eh? ;)
DeleteI'm saying #3. No particular reason, maybe because it seems the more common on the three...
ReplyDeleteOh and to your #2. I read it as you built a raft to float a glacier lake (put the lake on the raft and float it)!
LOL! I totally left a typo in there. OOPS. ;)
DeleteCongrats to Marian. Woo hooo for Moonless.
ReplyDeleteI"m going to guess #2.
#1 is the lie.
ReplyDeleteHey Connie and Pat, Tough to get anything by you two.
ReplyDeleteHi Ashley, I'm with Crystal. Great thought processes:)
ReplyDeleteHi Optimistic E. Nice to meet you too!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stephen. What's the name of your book? I like to see/and write martial arts too.
ReplyDeleteAnd vegetarians can eat their fair share:)
Hi Southpaw. I'm a Southpaw too.
ReplyDeleteHi Cherie and Liz, we'll see.........grin.
ReplyDeleteWow! You were one tough Mama! Let's see. I think she's not a vegetarian. (But I'm probably wrong, because my lie detector mechanism doesn't work so well on grown-ups!)
ReplyDeleteSherry, we have to be tough, right? How else will we survive the rest?
DeleteLove that you hiked prego! I did some hiking in the Grand Canyon when I was 5 mos prego and it suckethed! lol But I was a miserable pregnant person.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Sandra!
Yeah, 4 months was...interesting. I can't imagine heading out a whole month further into the pregnancy.
DeleteYou're a tough woman! Most of my pregnancy I spent napping. :) Hm, those are tough ones to pick from this time. I will say #1 is a lie. I do love me some paranormal!
ReplyDeleteLOL. Actually, I spent the first 3 months sleeping. ;)
DeleteFirst of all, Moonless - repeating myself, but I just love the cover. Second, wow!, you're adventurous, I cannot believe you have done all those things...wow! And third, Minder sounds like a very intriguing book and it's going on my wish list as well, yay!
ReplyDeleteDid I mention my dad was a scout master for almost three decades? Tends to trickle down into the family culture a little. ;)
DeleteAnd Minder does sound pretty great, right?
Congrats to Marian! I'm going to guess #2 is the lie.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Moonless looks awesome!
Yay! Thank you.
DeleteAnd where did I get the name Marian???? I meant Sandra! Jeesh!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Hey, there was a Marian in the post. In fact, she won my book--so that works too. ;)
DeleteOoooh, ok, I say the lie is that she's been a vegetarian longer than 15 years. Yes? No?
ReplyDeleteHmm, I say number #1, Sandra. Don't enter me. I'm playing for fun :)
ReplyDeleteHey Sherry, My lie detector mechanism isn't the best either. Thanks for playing.
ReplyDeleteHi Christine, Thanks for playing. Yay! Another paranormal woman.
ReplyDeleteCrystal, thanks so much for hosting me. I've enjoyed spending time here and meeting your blog buddies. Its a fun group:)

ReplyDeleteThanks, PK! :)
ReplyDeletewow - I didn't know you were such an adventurer, Crystal! Go you!
ReplyDeleteI think "was" is the key word there. Kids kinda change things, eh?
DeleteI'd say #1 is Sandra's lie.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Marian! I thought for sure I'd answered this, but guess my comment didn't post. Oh well! Great and tricky lie detector questions. :) Writer’s Mark
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Miriam! It is so hard to figure out the lies - there all so good!
ReplyDeleteOkay for this one, I'm going to say the lie is #1. :)
You are adventurous.
ReplyDeleteI think #1 is the lie.
