How to Find Happiness A-Z: Q

What time of the day do you most look forward to?

I love that hour before the kids wake, when I can think without interruption. I love bedtime, when I get to sit with each "little" and sing them a lullaby. I love the evening, vegging with my hubby and watching a show or chatting about our day. Those are the moments I most look forward to.

Quality time.

We've talked about how happiness stems from the relationships we develop--those with ourselves, families and friends. I've heard it said that love is actually spelled T-I-M-E. Think about it. What do you spend your hours doing--when you have no other obligations? What do you really love? And does it bring you happiness?

  1. Late evening, before bedtime. Quiet, dark and everything shutting off.

  3. Lost my best friend to this disease about 18 months ago. She was far younger, diagnosed in early 50's. This woman in the video still has a light on, you can see it in her eyes. My freind wasn't able even to speak by the time she hit about 58, barely able to eat and only then if someone told her to chew. Her hubby was very devoted, and did everything for her to keep her at home as long as possible. Luckily he was a pretty strong fellow and she was pretty small so he could physical pick her up and so forth. He had a care giver while he was a work, but then soon that wasn't enough either. She became violent and the meds no longer kept her stable. The care facility he found was near by so he was still able to be with her daily. The disease ultimately causes everything to shut down. We're all just grateful she didn't suffer longer then she did. Watching the clip was very emotional for me. My friend died before she turned 60.

    1. Thanks, Sandy.

I had a special needs brother we all had to help take care of at the end, and I know what a labor of love it is to care for someone with ailing health, but what a blessing it is too. We miss being able to give that service now.

  5. Ali & I still insist on some time together each evening, though it's getting harder as the kids get older.

    1. Way to stick to your guns! My oldest is 12, and we tell ours if they want to stay up, they can read in bed because it's Mommy and Daddy time.

  6. The truth is the best part of the day, or the week really, is early in the morning on a Saturday when I have the house to myself while everyone is asleep. I do my best writing then. :)

  7. Great post with very true words. When I am not working or writing, spending time with my family is very important. For me the best time of the day is night time, when everything and everyone quiets down and I just think better, for some reason. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog.

    1. You have a brain left at night? I used to, but lately my mental faculties are exhausted by the time the kids are in bed.

  8. My favorite time of day is mealtime. When my whole family is gathered, and it is just us, and we get to talk about the day. I love hearing the laughter and the giggling, and yes, even the occasional fighting. Seriously, I feel the most successful at mealtimes, after I have made a delicious and healthy meal that my family is enjoying.

  9. Time is love. I like that. Especially for children (but, really, for everyone), there seems to be no better way to express how much we care than by spending time really focused on them.
