I feel like there's a lot of this lately, but what can I say?
There's nothing better than a REBOOT! So here we go. REBOOT away!
We just hit our ONE YEAR anniversary of the professional staged reading of IMMORTAL the Musical. It was epic. A rush. Such a HUGE endeavor.
And I thought life would be smooth sailing afterwards.
And finally, REDOING THE WEBPAGE! This will be its third rebirth. Want to see the evolution?
2003 Webpage
SQUEEEE!!! There is actual video playing in the background. You scroll and find cool things like a timeline, characters, faces, song clips, story...
Whew!
Check it out, eh? Give me your feedback. We're still refining and could use all the thoughts.
And now for IWSG. Thank you to our awesome hosts Melissa Maygrove, Cathrina Constantine, Kate Larkinsdale, and Rebecca Douglass!
The question for this month is: If you have a playlist (or could put one together) that either gets you in the groove to write or fits with one of your books, what is it? What type of music or what songs?
To NO ONE'S surprise, I'm listening the IMMORTAL the Musical soundtrack nonstop in my head (and sometimes out loud). Gee, could it be because I'm redrafting the novel? 😂
Actually, I usually listen to cinematic music without lyrics, like Two Steps From Hell, or the occasional rock song that really carries the mood for the chapter or book I'm working on. That is, when I listen to music. My husband tells me it's not normal to ALWAYS have a soundtrack playing in your head. I don't know that I believe him since I've been listening my whole life. (Which sometimes makes external music overwhelming.)
How about you? What soundtracks carry you through the day? How long do you think it took to revamp our webpage? And do you have some feedback for us on the new site?

I'd say at least twenty-four years judging from the first version to the last.
ReplyDeleteI always listen to rock and metal although lyrics don't bother me.
Keep on working on that music!
Haha! He actually pulled it together in about 3 days, with minor fine-tuning in the meantime.
DeleteCongrats on, well, everything! :)
ReplyDeleteI tend to prefer quiet or something like white noise when I write. Otherwise I get distracted.
I get that. If I didn't ahve os many kids, I'd probably be with you.
DeleteI can't guess how long it took you to create this, but congrats. I'm like Madeline and prefer writing in silence.
ReplyDeleteThree days. My hubby is a programmer so it's his jam.
DeleteI can't imagine all the work you are putting into this project.
ReplyDeleteRight? Some days I consider maybe I've given too much of my life to it and should take up knitting.
DeleteWOW!!! Congratulations! Sounds like an immense amount of frustrating, yet, gratifying work. I can't listen to music while writing, I start singing along or want to dance...LOL.
ReplyDeleteHaha! I hear you about singing along. It can definitely get distracting.
DeleteCongratulations! It looks spectacular. Wow. I imagine it took a few years to get that site looking like that. Like Cathrina, I can't listen to anything as I write, but I'll sing along with the radio in the car with the volume up high enough that I don't have to hear myself sing!
ReplyDeleteThree days. That's right, three days to build that webpage. Granted, we've added a lot of functionality since.
DeleteWow! Go you! That's exciting.
ReplyDelete18 hours
It might have actually been that, cumulatively. Three days. My hubby worked on it while I was otherwise occupied.
DeleteThat looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you.
DeleteI like cinematic music too. I've even made some YT videos I can write too. Too many ambience videos put me to sleep. ROFL
ReplyDeleteMusic and sleep are not two things that belong in the same sentence for me. Haha. ;)
DeleteThe evolution of your online presence is exciting! Look how far you've come. Very impressive. Love the new look.
ReplyDeleteThank you. And onward and upward, eh?
DeleteYour husband did a fantastic job on your site. Although I don't always listen to music when I write, it's definitely the backbone of our family life. And what's wrong with living in a musical, right?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely nothing. I once joined an online group titled, "And Why Can't My Life Be A Musical." Haha! Like-minded lunatics.
DeleteWow! I'm so happy for you. You've put so much effort into your musical project. So impressive! As for the website, hmmm. Three days? (I've done mine in that time, but you really have to have the pedal to the medal to do it.)
ReplyDeleteAnd we have a winner! Nice.
DeleteIt had such a positive evolution over the years! Happy April to you!
ReplyDeleteAnd same to you!
DeleteIf you had the art already, it would take a couple of hours of hard work. Anyway, congrats and keep going. You've got this. :-)
ReplyDeleteWell, it depends on the level of complexity -- functionality wise. This one is a bit more in depth in that department.
DeleteThe website looks good. I think most websites takes a bit of time to set up but it would probably take little time to refine it after but it still depends on who is doing it.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.
It really does. When you have someone as dedicated as my husband, it essentially goes up overnight.
DeleteBeautiful site, and the logo is amazing. It attracts attention all by itself.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThe new site is impressive and dramatic. Eye-catching! Done in three days? Whoa! I created a website about ten years ago and it took me six weeks of backbreaking effort :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's crazy how technology has changed, but it also helps that my husband has been in tech for ages, so he's up with the latest and greatest.
DeleteLovely site, Crystal! Very eye-catching and attractive!
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks Linda. I feel like it definitely represents the work well.
DeleteWay to go with your website and all the work you are doing! I am so impressed!
ReplyDeleteAnd likewise with you, Tyrean. You've been out there hammering it!
DeleteI was shocked to learn that there are people who don't have music constantly in their heads. But I learned this at about the same time I learned I was neurodivergent, so that clocked. (Are you neurodivergent?) I can't begin to figure out how long it took to code the new website, and I've covered computer science classes (although, I know enough HTML to add a link, and that's about it).
ReplyDeleteI think there's a little neurodivergence in all of us. That's part of what makes us unique, different, and impossible to replace. 😁
DeleteWith modern tools, a programmer that knows their stuff can pull together even a complicated website in a few days--at least, the framing. All the fine details are what take weeks. This one was nearly complete after 3 days, and it's definitely one with more functionality than the average.
I like the "About" section of your website--I learned a lot more about this project. Way to persevere!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It feels more like insanity than perseverance most days--but isn't that the way for any of us working on an artistic endeavor?
DeleteGood luck. You certainly have been rather busy.
ReplyDeleteYou're telling me! I think I need a time stopper. Have you discovered that technology yet? *Note to self: reacquire scientists & lock in basement until time stopper technology is functional.
DeleteYou have been busy, good luck! BTW, your website looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Thank you Eileen & thank you for the visit. 😁
DeleteWow! That's quite an evolution and the latest looks amazing. My guess is that, in a way it took 23 years (from 2003 to now), and in a way it took one long weekend with the right tools.
ReplyDeleteYeah... It's/we've come a long way. Awesome guess on the website. You must have dabbled in this field. 😉 Three days. Three days for the major infrastructure. Minor tweaks since.
DeleteGosh, but you've been busy! The new website looks amazing. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes, but aren't we all busy? I think if we paused and took inventory of all the crazy we've been accomplishing over time, we would all be blown away.
DeleteWow I am honestly impressed! Great website and I listened to some songs They are marvellous You are one talented and driven woman Good Luck ❤️
ReplyDeleteThank you. We will see if its enough to get us to Broadway, eh? Haha.
DeleteThe site looks great! What an epic journey you've been on, and it must be so rewarding for it all to come together.
ReplyDeleteOne day at a time. I wouldn't say it has all come together, but thing gradually align more and more.
DeleteI like the new look of the website :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm currently listening to metal songs turned full instrumental with a violin lead; so cool!
Ronel visiting for IWSG day Find Your Unicorn Space
Yes! Like some Lindsey Stirling music.
DeleteHow cool is that. VERY impressive.
ReplyDeleteOr it will be if/when it actually goes somewhere, eh?
DeleteTotally amazing, Crystal! You go, girl! All the luck with the redraft of your novel. I, unfortunately, need silence in order to concentrate on what I am creating or writing. More power to you!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I like silence too -- just don't get it very often. You know, you deal with what you're given.
DeleteCongratulations! And it's fun to see the site morph along the way. :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Looks so good.
