And now how about some giveaway action?

Last week Stephen Tremp shared with us SALEM'S DAUGHTERS, along with two truths and a lie. Those who guessed the lie correctly were entered into a random drawing for the chance to win a $25 gift card to Amazon!

Stephen's Game:

1.    Stephen once met Los Angeles Laker basketball player Kobe Bryant.
2.    He does not like meatloaf.
3.    He still likes to color with crayons.

THE LIE: #1. Stephen wishes. ;)

Way to guess everyone! And the winner is:

Ready to meet the author?

N. R. Williams is an American grandmother who decided never to grown up. What better way to celebrate than to write epic fantasy's, children's stories and flash fiction alive with faeries, vampires, zombies and ghost, along with a few other super natural creatures? She is delighted to share these stories with readers and hopes that everyone will find something to love.

She adores Swiss cheese because of the holes and might be discovered eating it with turkey lunch meat and crackers.

N.R. gave me two LIEs and ONE truth to test your "lie detector" skills. Those who figure out the lie will go into my magic hat for the chance to win an eBook of your choice

You have until Tuesday, October 27 at 1 p.m. EDT to guess. Be sure to come back for the answers on October 28.
TRUTH OR LIE

1. I have almost died eight times from childhood illness, a difficult pregnancy and delivery and more recently two illnesses. I'm planning to continue living and will ignore references to cat's having nine lives.
2. I was born in Canada.
3. I love coffee. I drink it while balancing on my head and use a special straw.

So sleuths, which are the lies, and which is the truth? What are you reading for Halloween? Are you a bigger fan of faeries, vampires or zombies? Have you ever read/written flash fiction?

Nancy, I'm going to have to say number three. If that's true, then we need to get you on a talent show.

  3. Fantastic story! And my guess for the lie is #2. I have a bunch of scary stories on my Kindle. I just finished some non-fiction, though. Not scary at all!

    ReplyDelete
  4. I don't have any story written. Thanks for sharing yours.

  5. Lol! Your story was so much fun! I loved his childish exuberance. ^_^

    Never grow up!! ^_^
Well, I know I can balance on my head and drink coffee...

  6. I've never written a scary story or flash fiction. Maybe I should write a scary flash fiction ;)

  7. Oh, nice and timely. And Nancy cracks me up... going with #3 there... I've got a witch idea a-brewing... There is an anthology deadline end of November for witch stories so that is what I am shooting for.

  8. Great array of spooktacular fiction! I just saw Crimson Peaks last night, and wow, that was creepy for sure.

  9. I have to go with vampires - love them. And I think I will choose #2 as N.R.'s lie.

Heading off to read your story now. :)

  10. Actually, Halloween isn't really a thing in South Africa, so I read a bit of everything. (Although I don't really read Horror.)

I wrote a 13 word horror when someone on Wattpad challenged me, though. I think that it (other than my usual attempts at short writings) came out pretty good. Oh and... I think I challenged you too. ;-)

  11. Woot! I guessed right because I don't like meatloaf and love to color with crayons.

    Thank you!! :D

I'm going to read your story, Crystal. :)

  12. I am soooo ready for Halloween. Was lucky to grab a copy of Scary Stories to Tell In the Dark from the library. Time to make some new Halloween memories. :)

  13. Great story - this is why I turn the lights out and hide on Halloween!

I guess the lie is #3, and if it isn't, I want to see a video :-)

  14. What a fun Halloween story! I loved it especially the candy-drunken slaughter (I'm morbid, I know). I think #3 is a lie because #1 is too crazy to make up. xoxo

  16. I am easily scared, so horror is not a genre that I read. But my son has fallen in love with all things halloween, so I guess I will just have to deal with it, whether I like it or not. :P

  17. Loving the Halloween stories:) This is definitely my favorite time of year!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Duh, I love vampires. And zombies, and werewolves and all those kinds of creatures.

I'm going to guess number 2 is the lie.

  20. I always think I want to write holiday short stories. I tried once, it turned into a full blown novel that began and ended with Christmases but wasn't actually a holiday story. Um, lie is number three.

  21. It's nice to meet N.R.! As for growing up, I think maybe she's on to something. :) Thanks Crystal, for the intro. Have a great rest of the week!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I really enjoyed your story, Crystal!

I'm hoping #1 is the lie. Congrats, N.R.!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Great job on your flash fiction! I haven't bought our Halloween candy yet, but you can be SURE I'm not gonna get any tootsie rolls. :)

Okay, I'll guess this week's lie is number three.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Congratulations to Chrys! I love vampires. I think #3 is definitely the lie.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Great flash fiction! Other than writing it with the kids in school, I don't do any on my own... not sure why! :)
    Let's go with lie = #3

    ReplyDelete
  26. Congrats to Chrys! If NR gave you 2 lies and 1 truth, shouldn't people be trying to pick the true one? (On the other hand, the chances sure are improved if people have to pick 1 of the 2 lies.) I'm pretty sure 3 is a lie - but it's a funny one!

  27. I just came over from your flash fiction. Well done.

As for me - I'm a big fan of The Walking Dead and Fear TWD so I guess that makes me a fan of zombies.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Zombies sure win out for me in the end. Vampires, unless maybe Buffy, aren't all that high on my list.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I love scary stories! I don't have time to work on anything Halloween-themed this year, but it's great to see everyone getting into the spirit of things!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I like faeries. Vampires and zombies not so much. No Halloween stories are in my TBR stack, which I'm way behind in reading. Flash fiction is fun to read, but I've never tried writing it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. #3:)

Thanks for providing us with a delicious Halloween story, Ms. Crystal.

  32. #3 is the lie. :)
Excellent story start - I'll have to follow that link. :)

    Congrats to N.R.!

  33. #3 is completely the lie! and I LOVE your story, Crystal. Now I want melty caramel :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yikes. The lie should be #2 as the other two are so specific. But I'll go with #3 as the lie today.

  36. #3 strikes me as intriguing but rather impossible, so that's my choice. Great reading for the scary season. Have downloaded Nancy's book previously and I read/reviewed Treasure of Carmelidrium when it first came out. It has shades of Romeo + Juliet. Loved it! Great writing. I hope some of your commenters download it. They won't be sorry.

Thanks Crystal for the goodies today. And thank you for hosting Stephen and Nancy.

  37. Woohoo! Congrats, Chrys! That's exciting. :)

Death Goes Trick or Treating reminds me of the movie, The Hogfather. Have you seen it? If not, you've GOT to see it. You'll love it. Promise! <3

Aw, man, #3 can't be a lie. No. It canNOT! I am sorry for your neardeath experiences, though. ((hugs))

  38. I'll go with #3, though I'm tempted to go with something else just because almost everyone said 3. Congrats to Chris! Funny story about Death, Crystal.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Well it's got to be # 3, since the other two seem much more likely to be true. (I'm from Canada too - west coast) I like the story with Death liking caramels, who knew he had a sweet tooth? Good luck to all those in the draw for the books, and hope your Halloween is spooky but nice. . .

    ReplyDelete
  40. Death trick or treating, eh? Right up my street, that. Well, actually, I hope he isn't!

I think number 3 is the lie and if it isn't then I need to meet this eccentric lady!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I will say number 2 is true... but number 3 sounds really interesting if you can do that... lol :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. I love zombies. I just do. :)

I love flash fiction. It's so fun. Thanks for sharing yours.

  43. Caramel corn . . . lol
I love zombies! But I also like vampires and werewolves and and and all those creatures ;)

I'm guessing # 3 not sure why lol

    ReplyDelete
  44. I am not ready for Halloween yet. I am guessing that number 3 is the lie.

    ReplyDelete
  45. There's spookiness all around at the moment!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I guess No 3 is the lie. I'm never ready for Halloween!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Oh lots of fantastic horror to check out:) Halloween is coming too quickly this year... Hmm I'm going to say number 3 is the truth.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Man, Death went a little overboard! I love this short story. It reminds me, in a more funny way, of this comic I saw (http://funnyjunk.com/Halloween+is+the+time/funny-pictures/5321473) haha

Obviously, the lie is being born in Canada. Nobody is born there. :P

  49. 'Tis the season for scary stories!

    Have a great weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I think I'm a little weird about this - I love Halloween and all that goes with it, but scary stories and the like really don't do anything for me. I'm too busy analyzing what makes them work to actually find them scary. >_<

    ReplyDelete
  51. I liked your trick or treat story ;)

    And I think NR's lie is #3.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Fun death story for Halloween! I guess that IS coming up soon, isn't it!? Enjoy yours!!!

  53. So much fun found here.
    I like your title "Giving Away Halloween" - I teach that morning and I'm debating with myself about costuming . . . hmmm . . . .

  54. What a great Halloween/death story. FF and Halloween always make for great reading, don't they? I love Nancy's writing. I say #3 has to be the lie. Congrats to Chrys.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Stephen doesn't like meatloaf. That's the truth. And I enjoyed Death's Caramel Corn moment.

    ReplyDelete
  56. What a fantastic story. Tootsie rolls always set me off the deep end too.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I want to believe number one is a lie. I really do.

  60. Congrats to Chrys! I think #2 is the lie.

Haven't decided what I'm reading for Halloween yet...probably The Turn of the Screw. Still haven't read it, and it's supposed to be a great ghost story.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I'll watch out for those extra tall kids at my door on Halloween!

Congrats to Chrys. Number #3 is the lie, I'm guessing!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Two of my leading ladies in one post! Excellent.

BTW for anyone reading, Nancy's books are really fun, check them out!

  63. I'm guessing the lie is #3.

I prefer Vampyres, the real type, not the modern-day, friendly, sparkly variety. I know it's probably pretentious how I use the original spelling and even capitalize it.
